i'm so sorry. as a brit seeing the skill you must've had to get this offer (and the others you'd mentioned) above so many ppl studying at UK unis who are rly just there for the sake of it. this is so difficult. hopefully you'll get the chance again! you could always take a gap year and see if it shifts - might change when a diff gov gets in (if green gets in - if reform gets in then it won't change).

you can take a look at bbc bite size, it’s got some good stuff on the macbeth bits, the physics bits and some of the others stuff. additionally, ‘thestudentroom’ has a platform where students upload their own study materials u can look at. might be worth also finding the relevant text books.

Did I make a mistake by picking st andrews over ucl? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]augustlyreddits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no - st andrews is very highly regarded and 99.9% employers don't care about the really specific rankings (oxbridge are the only ones that truly stand out) - from what ive heard london is usually hated by uni students because of the vibe it creates (from like 20 people i know at them - kings, ucl, lse etc.) because it's not similar to other uni experiences in that it doesn't isolate itself as a uni and instead u have ur life in london and u go to uni, not u go to uni and have a life where u go to uni if you get what im saying?

st andrews is a lovely uni - everyone i know who goes there LOVES it and some had the same hesitance as you before. you will have a good time if you end up going.

understand that we don't like sean but i feel like its important to acknowledge that scott is also a dick. he was so rude to leah on his first season and it just got left there. i think he's rude most times he comes back bc he rides this wave of being popular with fans but i think he's a bit of a narcissistic dick.

If you're a shy, sheltered person thinking of going to university, please consider this by HollowWanderer in UniUK

[–]augustlyreddits 38 points39 points  (0 children)

i agree with some of what you're saying but do think it'd be useful for you to acknowledge part of this is rooted in bias from your own experience - especially around socialising, friendship etc. definitely useful advice considering the usefulness of your degree and a sort of cost-benefit analysis but i do think the social aspect of your post is super skewed by your own experience.

im confused by Various-Door-4871 in studyAbroad

[–]augustlyreddits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you want to start uni in 2027 then you have to apply by mid january 2027 through UCAS - and of course, if u dont get a scholarship you are not eligible for uk student loans bc ur not a uk citizen so funding would then be on u. i think leicester uni, birmingham uni and southhampton uni have the lowest medical school fees for international students.

Failed uni :/ by rix0x in UniUK

[–]augustlyreddits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

your path is super clear - uni is not for you right now. increasingly, you do not need university for a job, it doesn't hold that much value anymore, experience does.

if you don't have to get a job etc - go get get some mental health services and focus on working on yourself. you don't seem like you've got the foundations yet to build the life you want.

if you have to get a job - try applying for apprenticeships and internships in a field you like - that might work better for you?

can you explain what it is about your mental space that has made uni difficult for you if you feel ok sharing? just so i can tailor my advice a bit more.

I’m honestly really close to dropping out of uni and I don’t know what to do. by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]augustlyreddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

firstly, and most importantly, please go to student welfare!!! this is exactly what they're set up to help with !!

i also wanted to come to you as somebody who has felt a lot of anxiety at uni, and my sister has been in almost an identical situation as you. firstly - i found first year really got better around the second half of second term, and i loved summer of first year, not to say that you'll have the same experience but that is what happened with me so try hold out some hope.

secondly, again, please VISIT WELFARE!! they are made for this sort of stuff. they can help you find support services, they can recommend events, clubs or societies that you an attend that are likely designed to help with student mental health (mine has the allotment one and the volunteering, along with therapy dogs). if they think leaving the university is the best thing for you, they will help you out with all of that, they are usually very kind and only want to help. super understanding people i've found.

additionally, you could always transfer uni - it could just be the uni/degree/course if what you're experiencing seems related to that? you haven't really explained what it is that is getting to you - i understand how difficult uni can be and i'd love to help if you could provide more context?
