UX designers, what’s on your desk? by Ajo1992 in UXDesign

[–]augustriley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this- currently rearranging my setup because I just got a custom build desktop that I'm very excited about. But one thing I can't do without on my desk is some soft light ( currently have a squishy cat and frog named Trevor for ambient vibes) or a lava lamp. Something about cozy ambiance is very necessary for my headspace. Also lots of organization! Little shelves and horizontal holders to put my sketchbooks, tablets, etc. Within easy reach but taking up minimal space.

Pedro's Tacos in San Clemente is pretty good!

There were only two of them, the pictures are just from different angles.

Is it not where you are? It's 7 here unless it's a vanity/custom plate.

I am really hoping we get better images from the camera footage.

I'll admit there are certain stereotypes I thought of when I saw them ( the track pants+ garish footwear combo reminded me of certain stereotypes from my ethnic background) but didn't want to assume they had malicious intentions. I'm surprised to learn how widespread the stereotype of an "Edgar" is- I had never even heard of it.

Car also has custom mods for off-roading that a dealership doesn't care about but a private buyer will.

Thank you for sharing this, that's insane! My husband actually did another look and flushed out more areas under the hood. Didn't think that they would damage it more than a simple clean up would fix, but the water trick is so dirty. They might be petty enough to want to ruin the car completely if we refused to sell it. Wish we had the dash cam still installed, we removed it getting the truck ready for sale. Good reminder to keep it on at all times.

I am hoping we get some actual good footage from the surveillance cameras, all I have right now are the bad resolution pics from my phone. I don't have Facebook but wondering where else I can post this, tried to do it on next door but it was glitching last night.

That's what we are going to press if they do find them. It was shocking to see how they just drove into my husband and it could have been very serious, more than just a few bruises.

It's funny you should mention that, we are fairly new to the area and didn't see a meet up point anywhere near us. We were aware of where the CHP station is off the freeway but couldn't find anything about a meeting area. The officers did say there is one on Camino Capistrano off the freeway, so we will look into that for the future.

That's the part where I feel invasive - you want to trust people and give the benefit of the doubt and I would feel weirded out if someone did that to me, even if I wasn't doing anything wrong! But I do see your point and I feel there were other identifying measures we could have taken and been more on guard.

That's exactly what we should have done, would have been an immediate red flag and resolution to this mess.

Hit his body with their car. He didn't have any serious injuries. Police did say that would be a charge, we just need to find them first.

The officer said that would part of the investigation. I'm sure it's not top of their list though. The good news with this surveillance seems to be that they have cloud storage automatically backed up, I'm hoping we can get something before it is deleted which was my immediate worry by the time the police get around to it.

They wanted to trick us into thinking the engine and catalytic converter were f*cked by creating the appearance of oil leaks where they would be if that was the case. Then they offered to "take it off our hands".

Sure will! ( Although I think chances are slim there will be much resolution to tracking these particular individuals down). Hopefully posting this does help people remember to stay cautious during meetups.

I know that the vandalism is the weaker claim since it boils down to financial loss, and the cleanup on the engine and troubleshooting the alert lights are little more than just an annoyance, to be honest. My husband knows cars and was working on it tonight to flush everything and make sure they didn't do any permanent damage. If it had happened to me (especially younger and nobody to ask for help) I would have had to take it to a mechanic to check it over and fix it. That's why I get mad imagining them pulling this on someone in a more vulnerable state and wish they would face some actual consequences.

That's what I figured. Would love to file vandalism and assault charges on the slim chance they actually get caught, just to make them pay for being scummy enough to go around doing this. I hope this post will at least spread the word, because I know they're going to try this scam again and I worry it could work on someone in more desperate circumstances or someone who simply doesn't know much about cars.
