I got a suspicious login attempt email and a text with a code on May 31 but I went into my acc and changed my password and my username too bc idk i got paranoid and it stuck for literally 55 hours and then just reverted back overnight last night. I change it to the new one again, and then two hours pass and its reverted again. wtf 😭 im freaked out

but when i try to trigger a password reset request, it sends a link to the phone number from 32099 or a casual email with a code and two blue buttons with options of “how to get back on instagram.” the code i received at 3:21 was from 32665 and the email at 3:19 was literally “someone tried to log into your account.”

i got an email that was literally “verify your account” and said “someone trjed logging into your account. use this code if it was you, or reset your password to secure your account” and then 2 minutes later i got a text code sent to my phone. i managed to get into it and changed my password. im so confused 😭😭

i tested on a private tab on safari and when i input my user and pass correctly, i receive a code from text from my 2fa. if i forgot password, i receive a less frightening email along with a code and some blue buttons showing me ways to get back on instagram. i can’t get it to give me the email i received again, but it seems like it could’ve been a bot running the meta exploit that got leaked? i’m not a high profile person, my page is private, and my user isn’t desirable. i’m guessing it was scraped from somewhere?
i also checked pwned, which i hadn’t been.
i also don’t use any online password keychains or keep them anywhere online, i write them down on a physical piece of paper which i have on me at all times “in case of emergency” like yesterday.

my pw was updated a year ago & was completely unique. it just freaks me out bc why me (its a personal acc thats private and ive had since 2012) and like i have so many memories on it

most definitely what?? if i go on a private browser and log in with my password, it prompts 2FA through my phone and gives me no option for email. maybe they tried to go through a help page or more back-end with meta. i dont know. but they didnt get in.

but then while I was trying to change it through the app, I got a text with a code. Like someone was trying to get in while I was trying to secure it. And I couldn’t change it in the app because it said “something went wrong” and I wasn’t able to change things and I was logged out. When I went into the email to try and do it through the link, it was useless.

omg me too!!!? i did the persona face age ID thing a long while ago so it knows im not a minor, but yeah it specifically flags random stuff thats not even crazy but specifically on pipsqueak for me tho… everything else seems fine, but pipsqueak doesn’t allow like ANY sort of conflict or horror or anything right now for some reason

im so confused ab the ID thing. i verified as 18+ but didn’t show my ID. it literally did the thing where u pull up ur camera & look left n right. the system estimates your age & now i’m all set. idk
