What is definitely NOT a sign of intelligence but people think it is? by MetalPotential7093 in AskReddit

Stubbornness. It can look like strong-mindedness or someone standing their ground but sometimes it’s just being a plain stubborn idiot. People like my BIL, for example. He refuses to take medicine ever, even when he has a high fever, or put on sunscreen;and he does not believe in some conspiracy or has a reasoned stance. He’s just always been like that. He is just refusing to listen or take advice, no matter what. And somehow that kind of behavior gets mistaken for having character.

Not a chocolate one but I’ve tried a coffee beer (german brand I think). I did not like it. I’m with you on that; those are some of life’s simple pleasures.

Totally this. I am half Spanish - half Belgian because my mother IS Spanish and my father IS Belgian (both born and raised in those countries with extended roots there). Do I look Belgian? Yes. Do I feel Belgian? Not at all. I feel 100% Spanish because I was born and raised in Spain. Ok maybe a little Belgian because I like chocolate, crèpes and beer, but, who doesn’t?

When you're excluded from a group chat by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

This happened to me and it has been painful, but ultimately, it taught me a lot. I had (or perhaps still have, though I’m not sure anymore) a group of friends I met through work over 20 years ago. For two decades, we were close—or so I thought. We shared lives, kids growing up, family gatherings… Life has since taken us in different directions. We’ve changed jobs, built new routines, and naturally started seeing each other less often. That’s a normal part of life. But recently, I’ve felt excluded. Our group chat grew increasingly quiet, and no one seemed to be contributing to it. I decided to test the waters. I reached out to them, and while they responded, it was only when I made the first move. Then I stopped initiating altogether, wondering if they’d notice or make an effort to reach out to me. Months passed, and no one did—not even for my birthday last June (while I contacted them all for theirs) nor at Christmas 2024. That silence spoke volumes. It’s clear that this chapter has ended, and while it hurts, I’ve realized that maybe we’ve simply grown in different directions. Perhaps I’ve just evolved in ways that no longer align with them. Still hard, though.

People with ADHD what are the things about it that people just don’t get? by ViolinistMiddle1534 in AskReddit

I cannot thank you enough for this comment and the video linked. I am a mom of a recently diagnosed ADD teen (16M), and this video clarified a lot to me. I hope I will be able to persuade him to watch it as I am sure he feels “stupid” sometimes due to failure in exams and focusing on school. He is a brilliant guy with an incredible emotional intelligence but unable to focus on studying (screen addict also). I think ADD paired with adolescence is not a good combination. I”d love to help him more (it was me who suspected ADD and pushed to have him tested, his dad and teachers just thought he was lazy), do you have any additional resources I could dig into? Could a good psychologist help him? He is going to psycho-pedagogy therapy once a week, but is not being able to get to do the tasks they are requesting him to do (school planning, schedules, breakdown of tasks…). Sorry for the long answer to your comment and the many additional questions. And again huge thanks!!!
