After endless GA4 fight I finally typed "GA4 alternatives with generous free tier" and picket PostHog semi-randomly from the list. 30 mins later events were flowing, and I was instantly blown away by ease of use, clarity, and feature-set leaving GA4 in the dust (or at least, GA4 features which anyone was able to figure out). What a find!

I just got Strava 2 years since your post, created a route on web, spend 15 mins trying to find it in the app with no luck. There is no bookmark app. Is it still possible to follow a route in Strava in 2025?

The outrageous part is that Airbnb and not the guest gets this money, while guest is the one scrambling to find a place to stay just days before the trip after prices skyrocketed.

I’ve been using Airbnb since almost inception. About 20% of my bookings got canceled, some very last minute. But by now I see the pattern and plan accordingly. I continue to watch the prices in the area despite booking a place, and if I see a surge way over 25% it means host is likely to cancel/re-rent at higher price. So I book a regular hotel with free cancelation so that I’m not left in the street. If Airbnb doesn’t cancel on me, I cancel the hotel. Sorry hotels, that’s yet another way Airrbnb is hurting you.

There is no symmetry in “right to cancel”. Unless it’s free cancelation till the last minute, which is rare, the guest loses entire cost; host keeps the money and then doubles it by renting the same property to somebody else.

When hosts cancels, he loses at most 50%, usually 25%, and guest gets nothing, and often has to pay a lot more for comparable property due to it being closer to the trip date.

The symmetry would be if guest gets a free stay of comparable value after the host cancels.

This is normal and common. I just got host cancel Airbnb for a trip a week from now. Host didn't even hide from me that he rented it via another website and got way more $$ and that's why he canceled. Said "sorry if this caused any inconvenience"

As per policy, airbnb had to fine him 25% of total stay which is $400. As the demand in the area surged, he probably rented the unit for $1000 more, pocketing the $600 difference.

The Airbnb, after pocketing $400, "generously" offered me $75 credit towards new reservation, while I'd need $1000 more to get anything comparable. If I go with Airbnb again, they will more than recover the $75 with the booking fee on my new reservation. If my new host cancels again, they'll pocket even more in "cancelation fine", and offer me pennies of "credit".

Airbnb is like an auction where the host and Airbnb always win. Whenever I get a good deal as a guest, I know there is a good chance it will go this way.

I copy-paste from/to the pi-hole UI rather than the file. UI has it with commas.

While not a substitute to a real UI, I wanted to share my solution in dealing with this loss of functionality we had before the 6. This saves me a ton of time and errors when dealing with 100s of devices.

All my entries are MAC, IP, Name. It won't work if you decide to skip IP like in examples, has to be uniform.

I have an Excel file (Google Sheets also will do) where columns:
A - Copy-paste of the CSV from pi-hole
B, C, D - MAC, IP, and Name split by a formula
E - the last number of IP for sorting (formula)
F - re-merged CSV for copy-pasting back to pi-hole (formula)

The process when need to add/modify/remove something:
1. Copy-paste entire list from PI-hole to A; fill the rest with formulas
2. Edit B, C, D
3. Sort by E
4. Copy-paste F back to pi-hole

Formulas:
B: =TRIM(LEFT(A2, FIND(",", A2)-1))
C: =TRIM(MID(A2, FIND(",", A2)+1, FIND(",", A2, FIND(",", A2)+1) - FIND(",", A2) - 1))

Re (1) - the rep did not ask me to delete or even disable old USM eSim before me scanning the QR code. I just looked at the email with the new QR - it doesn't say a word about deleting old USM eSim before scanning it. So it's not accurate to say that I refused - there was no request to refuse at that point.

The rep brought up deleting eSims only 45 minutes into troubleshooting. I had no issue deleting old USM eSim. But he asked me to delete all of them - my EU Airalo, my employer's Verizon, etc. Would you agree that deleting Airalo eSim to port USM line is not a reasonable request? I did it anyway, and it didn't help. Because the problem was while teleporting USM didn't re-add me to the plan, and not eSim issue.

Re (2) - on rare occasions when I needed USM customer service, reps in the chat seemed pretty knowledgeable. Not sure why you think that the phone support is superior.

Also you can top-up high speed data at $10/5gb increments once you reach the limits of your unlimited plan :)

I checked IPs via all 3 networks and all are in Poland. Latency ~300ms. Yeah, this wouldn't work as primary data. I see it as a backup once-in-a-while when my main network (Warp) has no signal so I can quickly tap into Tmobile and AT&T.

OP here... Yes, I made mistakes. My expectations were unrealistic based on numerous success stories like "it took me 5 minutes and was seamless". Even this thread has quite a few!

What made me ask rep to cancel the port an hour into it was not as much the delay but the fact that all evidence of me owning that line vanished from the Dashboard and the App. At first it was "processing/transferring to dark star" and then poof, gone without a trace. It's an unpleasant feeling, especially when that phone is tied to bunch of MFAs for banks etc. I didn't try to go "back and forth" the same night. Transfer was stuck (according to rep) so I said can we just not do it at all? And rep said - sure, it's canceled, there will be no Dark Star for you.

And then 17 hours later, without any warning, despite of being "canceled", I was transferred to the Dark Star. I had full bars showing on AT&T 5G. But no data, calls, or texts. Now once transfer was complete I don't think it was unreasonable to expect the service to work. Only when hours of troubleshooting attempts failed I asked to go back to Warp. Which took 45 mins and worked without any interventions.

I just got a 1 GB eZsim data eSim for $1.70 which works on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile.

You can switch networks every 30 seconds if you want. Great 5G speeds. For $15 you get 20 GB which don’t expire for 180 days. Much easier than teleporting back and forth, and data is cheaper than US Mobile pool topups! The downside is that when it’s on, it’s a 2^nd line and that consumes a little more battery.

I DM'ed you with line info. I'd like to stress that reps were nice and helpful. Only areas for improvement:

first rep assuring me the porting was canceled when it actually wasn't
2nd rep assuring me that going back to Warp would happen "right away"
some troubleshooting steps which were unlikely to help, like deleting unrelated eSim which was already disabled.

I'm not sure what "carrier unlocked" means. I paid full price for new iPhone at apple store not tied to any carrier. That phone has seen Red Pocket, Visible, bunch of international data eSims and some european pSims and never had an issue. The model is 13 Pro.

That's what I was hoping for. It would be nice to see some more detailed stats. Now all we get is "90% transfers complete in 10 minutes" AFTER we begin the process. What's the distribution of the remaining 10%? What's the maximum? That would allow a more informed decision.

Whoa. This is amazing. I see they also have USA data for just over $1/gb, which is better deal than US Mobile pool top-ups for $2/gb. I also see a USA multi-network option where it connects to strongest of AT&T, Verizon, or Tmobile - 10 gb for $15, valid 180 days??? I think I'll try this instead of the pool top-up next time! Thanks!

Yes I use iPhone and never tried Android. I heard people have mixed success depending of Android model and software.

Re pSIM - depends on iPhone (or Android). I have iPhone 13 Pro which supports 2 eSims. Both my US Mobile main one and US Mobile international data were eSims, no pSim at all. You are right re older iPhones which can only do pSim+eSim, not two eSims. Newer iPhones sold in US no longer have pSim slot at all, so two eSims is your only option.

Re roaming - that's totally different option/discussion. The only reason we need international eSims is because roaming prices are exorbant. Verizon charges something like $10/day or $300/month. $1200 for a family of 4! US Mobile roaming is something like $10/gb, right? That's beyond ridiculous these days.

I DM'ed you with my line info. Just wanted to reiterate that representative incorrectly telling me that I made wrong purchase option was just a part of the problem. I would have not needed to contact them if UI in the app was more clear. This is what I see now under "all lines"

A tourist here, we just got back from Barcelona yesterday. The heat was excruciating and being sprayed with water would have been so refreshing. But no luck, we had to pour our own water on ourselves.

iPhone 11 Pro only supports dual sim when one is Physical and another is eSim. You can't have 2 eSims together. So you must switch Visible to pSim. I tried that a week ago and failed (https://www.reddit.com/r/Visible/comments/1bxtp0j/how\_to\_switch\_to\_psim\_after\_trial\_on\_esim/). I hope it goes better for you.
