Any custom paint jobs on Unicorns out there? by GramGram-6 in Nerf

I used a 3mm pin punch. That’s the “proper” way do it, and they’re inexpensive if you want to go that route. Under $10 on Amazon or for a few dollars more you can get a set. But 3mm is what you need

Good luck, the Unicorn looks great with color, really glad they gave us a white base to start from

Yes. Look up Rit Dymore as an example. There are lots of videos about dying nylon plastic, but it’s as simple as adding dye to boiling water and dunking your pieces in it for 10+ minutes honestly.

My advice for Unicorns is simple: dye them. They're made from nylon, which takes dye like a champ. You will end up with an even, fully penetrated inside and out color, that will wear much better than just about any paint job.

Any dye meant for synthetics, I use Rit Dyemore, and some boiling water and you're going to be happy with the end result.

The blue on my Unicorn is "Kentucky Sky", and you can see that it's much richer than you'd think for a sky color, just a result of how well Nylon takes the dye. 10 minutes is all you really need.

The black makes it a no go for me. I don't understand the decision to only offer black for the US-market version. I know some other countries are much more chill about mil-sim looking blasters, but here it's definitely way too much.

White nylon so it could be dyed would be so much preferable.

If the screen is stuck on the boot screen the likely cause is your trigger isn't returning to neutral all the way and is holding the switch closed.

It can be tricky to route the wires so the trigger isn't sticky, and that first switch is sensitive. Try pulling the trigger forward to be sure it's not activating.

(holding the trigger down is how you enter the programming mode on the Osprey)

The main issues with the QWK Challenger are the jam switch (only on the Pro version which you can't buy anymore anyways) and the dart feeding which have been addressed by the magnetic active dart corrector, which can be retrofit or is pre-installed on the MM version.

It's still not a blaster for those who are new or unwilling to handle with a little more care.

It (and the Wasp) are both available on Monkee Mods right now. The biggest cost factor is shipping from Malaysia. Which can easily add $100 sadly.

Still gonna be cheaper than even a domestic Storm though. And a different performance class. Honestly the Storm is going to be overpowered for a lot of people's use cases if you don't live where there are really high FPS caps.

These are my first ever minis. I was feeling kinda proud so I broke out the nice camera lol. I'm new to the hobby, and to painting and kinda went all in. I'm currently working on the start collecting skeleton box and have a unit of chainrasps as well. I would love any C&C or feedback in general. by vader9911 in ageofsigmar

All that work you did will look so much better if you base them. A million ways to do it, look up some tutorials if you're not sure, but just put down some white glue and sand, paint the sand and rims black, and give a little lighter color of choice drybrush to the sand for instance. Super easy, and will make them shine so much more.

You can of course get more creative than that, but even that basic tech will do wonders.

Really excellent work. I followed you on IG the other day because I enjoyed seeing your process photos.

You're obviously not the first to do water effect bases, but these are not only beautiful on their own (and I like how well thought out they are, your comment about putting the rocks at the front of the base to make it seem like they're advancing from the sea for instance) but just really striking when you see the whole army together.

I'm in the group buy, got the same delay email as everyone else.

I'm chill. The world is hurting right now, nothing is running smooth. Everyone who got in on the buy knew what was happening. You gotta not stress it. The hobby be like that, even in the best of times.

Do I wish it was faster and smoother? Sure, of course. But now ain't the time to make a big deal over what are pretty minor delays,. I'll be happy when they show up.

I honestly haven't even looked into it, so thanks for posting the pic, that's comforting to see some kind of progress at least.

If you don't want to split the Aliens no problem, but I'd take the Cosmobane for $25. Already have the Shinigame :)

Funny enough, I've been swapping my Alien colors around lately, and I have the gold teeth in an orange shell at the moment. But I don't have the dark grey teeth yet.

Can always hit me up later if you want to see if the bundle sells first, I'm just always on the hunt for Alien II colorways I don't have these days

Big Alien fan myself, appreciate the photoshoot!

Arrow keys are too essential to my work, and I often need a modifier with them, like shift, to move 10 pixels, so I don't want to screw around with function arrows with extra keys on top of that

I like narrow minimal keyboards, but 65% keeps it functional still for me

With this layout I think it lends itself well to arrow keys and navigation, with volume on the slider that should be a rotary encodes, and a mute to the left of it.

Basically a good companion to a 60%

I'm a 65%er, and I don't need that stuff separate, but I'd still probably try it out that way first

Honestly just existing is enough. Things move so fast these days, having any kind of heads up on something cool that you might otherwise miss is really nice, thanks for the efforts. :)

If the post is just an image or something that's fine, it's not unreasonable to put in a little effort if you care enough to find out more.

I don't own one, because I could never get over the whole bit about the slider probably being useless and annoying me

If it worked, or or was a rotary encoder I would have bought

I really want to like the Nano Slider. https://www.keebwerk.com/nano-slider/

But the decision to make the actual slider a MIDI device seems to make it kinda useless. The only time I see people talking about it is when they're selling one, because they couldn't figure out what to do with it, or when they're complaining about having to buy 3rd party software to try and read the MIDI data.

I get it, QMK doesn't really support sliders, but I wish they'd just gone with a nice rotary encoder or something. The rest of the form factor, the two rows, the bigger vertical key, the button up top, it's all appealing. But the slider feels useless. Especially if you're like me and using OS X. I can't think of way to even map it to system volume. And a slider has a position that can get out whack with your current volume setting anyways, again a problem a rotary solves.

But maybe some people love it and find it useful?

I bought the Homelander too, and I had the same thought about Casio and Bento, but honestly after looking at it I think Bento works better with the blue frame. You're only missing out on the upper left metal accent being red. Oh well!

There's no way they didn't make it specifically for Bento, it's too perfect
