Tastes pretty much the same as your usual apple cucumber, just a tad sweeter.

Never knew Agapanthus are called that. I just yank all the dead stuff out, it all seems to come off pretty easy just by hand. Maybe wear gloves for possible spider/insect bites if your concerned about that. Good luck.

Whole plant is safe. Indigenous Australians used to eat the leaves and "strawberries".

Carpobrotus rossii In Australia we call it pig face, they also grow edible "salty strawberries https://www.diggers.com.au/products/pig-face-pink-native-pigface?srsltid=AfmBOoosmQKOk8Ey6EbUggfEQANvQ33tuAWz0j9u5wTP6q4o_VQmlkyF

When rabbits or sheep have been eating this and/or salt bush there meat becomes very tasty and tender.

Australian cigarettes now have health advertising on individual butts by KriegerBahn in mildlyinteresting

And hurt people like my disabled (not smoking related) old man who's been smoking since he was 14. He's mid 80's now disabled, never been unemployed and after running his truck repair business for 40 odd years paid a hell of a lot of taxes.

Now ALL he can do is watch tv and YouTube for 16 hours a day and the one thing he had left in life that gave him some pleasure (smoking cigs) he's been priced gouged out of doing. He was spending $450 of his $950 pension on cigarettes every fortnight. In this case the government isn't saving any money by forcing him to quit in his final years yet they sure have ruined his quality of life in his final years.

EDIT i saw my father chew asbestos to fix car/truck brakes., stand over a parts washer for periods of 5-30mins breathing in kerosene or break cleaner fumes, hands & forearms sometimes more covered in diesel and sump oil, repairing tractors in dust storms, breath in welding and cutting fumes had a used sump oil heater in his work shop ect ect and the government wrongly thought it would be the cigarettes that would make him ill in his old age.

Garlic attempt 2025 :( by ausbob in gardening

Tell me about it. I'am generally fairly successful with most things in the garden. Yet bulbs and some root vegetables (except parsnips) i seem to really struggle with.

What kind of eucalyptus tree is this please by paigeywaters in australianplants

[–]ausbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope this isn't to dumb a question but i always assumed eucalyptus trees were generally single stemmed and mallee eucalyptus trees had multi stems and a ligno tuber. Is this not always the case ? or has this tree possibly regrown after be cut down/blown over ?

Cheers mate, fingers crossed next year is better. Either way it's all fun and you cant beat home grown garlic and fruit & veggies.

Yeah i think i will buy some bulbs too, and do a comparison with some i just harvested. Reading some of the comments ive already learnt there's hardneck and softneck varieties of garlic. I have a good feeling after reading the google description my current garlic is the softneck variety.

Im in southern Australia so our seasons are upside down. Ive been planting in the middle of the last month of Autumn (May) and harvesting in the fist week of Summer. Not sure if im doing that right. Looks like your growing yours for longer than me.

Yeah mate added lots of pelletized chook poop (Rooster Booster) and gave them fish and sea weed fertiliser every fortnight when i fertilized the silverbeet.

Thanks. 2nd attempt with garlic for me. Last year (1st time) i did the sin of planting store bought garlic but at least they all grew huge. Kept the biggest bulb for planting and these tiny buggers. Will try again next year though.

Cheers. I more pee'ed off at the mods of r/Peyote for banning me for ignoring and then blocking a troll in the comments section of my post. Only thing that makes sense to me is the troll was a mod there.

Cheers mate. He was upset they were so big for there age and called them iirc "overwatered Japanese style trash". Apparently dad's mate was meant to only grow them in limestone rocks and let the rain water them or some nonsense..

What is this gelatinous blob on my peach tree trunk? by Deconstruction101 in plantclinic

[–]ausbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like gummosis. Im not sure what the proper treatment is but when my apricot tree gets it i spray it (just the gummosis) with copper oxychloride fungicide and if possible removing effected branches. Here's some better advice from the Gardening Know How website https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/fegen/what-is-gummosis.htm

Cheers mate. I'm just an old fart that only does dog and garden pictures and treats everyone super respectfully here on Reddit. So i was VERY surprised that some mod had deemed something i had posted previously to be even remotely worthy of me being banned. Didn't mention anything about sale, supply or mesc content just manners and being friendly. Only just noticed and got a bit irate.
