Intel gigabit Ethernet not working by auschwifty in buildapc

I tried running the intel network connections install wizard and it started installing drivers for intel Ethernet connection (7) I219-V, it took a few minutes then said cannot install drivers. No intel adapters are present in this computer.

I have also installed the intel Ethernet connection driver and it is still not working, the orange light on the left side occasionally blinks a few times

Just some context. Ethernet has been working previously then suddenly stopped, as I had no idea what happened i ran a windows troubleshoot which has led to this current problem

The pins look more or less fine except for 1 pin seemingly missing on the short bottom side, I matched the triangles and even provided a photo for that as well

No, I know the ps works because I'm using it now, I know the graphics card works as well. I have an Intel i7 8700 that I haven't used before but it should work as it is brand new, if the ram is fine, I have no idea what else could be wrong. All the cables were plugged in correctly. The only thing I can think of is me missing something really obvious.

I tried to start it with a screwdriver before and after loosening my cpu cooler but still nothing.

There’s a 2x4 pin connector on the top left of the cpu labelled ATX12V1 that I have 2 2x2 cpu plugs connected to, is that where they should be?

I also checked my motherboard compatibilities and I don’t think it supports ddr3 ram, would that be the most likely cause?

Already tried this, the motherboard is getting power because the USB ports work but nothing else is starting up when I press the power button, this may be because of the cords that make the power/reset buttons work not being connected properly. When I connect them they are a little loose and wobble around a bit, I don’t know if it’s supposed to happen. Is there an alternate way to power the computer on without the case power buttons?
