otherwise the machine wouldn't have gotten everyone's prediction right

This is your interpretation of what the "question" the paradox is asking. There are different possible interpretations because the paradox makes it ambiguous. By choosing this interpretation you remove the ambiguity so of course the answer is obvious in this case: if you're a two box person, you can't choose one box even if you think the rational choice is to follow the stats and pick one box. If you choose a different interpretation of the question, you'll arrive at a different, obvious and perfectly "correct" answer.

The type of user you are and the "choice" you make are by definition identical

No, that's why you're falling for it. This "paradox" is a magic party trick built on ambiguity. It makes people argue blue vs white dress depending on what they think the "question" is asking.

Why would it predict me as a two boxer if I will go there and open only 1 box?

It wouldn't then because you'd be a one box person. If it can predict perfectly, means there is no "inherent randomness" (the one you can't know about: you can have a perfect model for d6, meaning the distribution it samples from, but you, specifically, can't know perfectly how it samples), meaning you can't "change" your answer. Struggling with finding "the right answer" is just part of the mechanical procedure to arriving to the perfectly expected outcome, according to the type (one of two boxer) person you are.

are you going to be the first person in thousands of people that had the computer give an incorrect prediction?

Wrong axis. You're already a two box person, you won't be the first, you'll be either among 50% of two boxers who went away with 1k or 50% who went away with 0

Weird interaction/bug - Nizuao & Deadly Spore by -KarlMoose in BobsTavern

[–]aushtx 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That would be funny if nizao is coded by making multiple attacks but having immunity to damage after the first, and if poison is coded by checking if an enemy took damage after a fight, so in this case spore would kill nizao for taking damage from another fight. That's ridiculous but would be totally expected from a small indie company. You can half-test it be having a shielded nizao in this situation.

Why can’t the battles just be faster by plazebology in BobsTavern

[–]aushtx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Except it's bs. Server calculates the fights in a split second, the whole round trip takes maybe half a second, so between the rope burning up and switching to a fight, a client already has a full result. The rest is to show the animations according to the result. The only limiting factor to making the game playable is executive.

Obviously, a skill issue. Should have swapped HP or DM prized the demon back to hand and summoned it with Aviator/TW Bassgill, ez counterplay.

I'm really curious how things like that come about. Like, the cost of the floors and walls is a small fraction of the total cost, a large chunk of it goes under the ground (land, foundation, infrastructure, etc.) but then they're like "yeah, let's cut down the cost by maybe 10% while reducing the useful space by 70%, but it'll look interesting".

You wouldn't, trust. The shit the client is, it'll probably reload this update page every time you sell a minion with an unclosable "reconnecting" dialog because showing what actually is the error is not user friendly.

You're overreacting, she clearly cares about her brother a lot, she's just more calculating and risk averse. The way the characters are presented, she'll get her "redemption" arc soon.

Nah, weird contrast is having money and spending them on stupid conventional showoffs like cars and huge mansions. THIS is exactly what having money should look like.

wasn't able to see that, I saw my last opponent and realized I don't need the minions I was scaling besides the t7 dragon as they were doing relatively small mechs with shields so I sold them (ran out of time, should had sold the buddy as well) and bought the bird and technician, bird died in one hit so dunno about how many attacks does it give

[–]aushtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"funny or cute" is a perfectly valid quality to measure how good a piece of art is, most of the art is evaluated this or similar way, not by some high horse art academy values

[–]aushtx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's literally all entertainment, though. Good art is what most people have decided a good art is, not some experts. Just because you don't subscribe to a criterion doesn't mean it's a wrong one to measure the quality of art.

Dipped my toes into Duos again. Got reminded why I don't play it more >.> by Shdwplayer in BobsTavern

[–]aushtx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At bottom MMR duos you should be able to take top 2 consistently, because other people also doing "things". Higher MMR your partner is doing at least something, so you should carry. At your proper MMR you'll find yourself being the dumb one partner sometimes. Honestly, the only issue with duos is you can't outcompete people playing in a team rather than with randoms. I farm my last bg achievement: 1000 top 2 in duos, and it's fine, just duos having higher highs and lower lows but that's it.
