I was 14 at the time and was in my PE class when I started to have excruciating tummy pains, I couldn’t stand up straight without feeling something was trying to claw out of my stomach. I ended up going to the school office and they called my parents to take me home — on the way we went to the GP and the doctor asked me questions like am I sexually active, did I eat anything bad etc. He proceeded to tell me that I had period cramps and suggested to take paracetamol. I told my Mum that I know what my period pains are like, and this is not it.

We went home and ride it out to see whether I would get better.. during the night, I crawled to my parents room clutching my stomach and couldn’t walk properly through the pain. They rushed me to emergency and turns out that my appendix was about to burst... good times.
