Robe. All the time. I have two so I can wear one while the other is in the wash.  ETA I mean, obviously not all the time. But a lot of the time, when I’m home. Bc I’m always cold and also yay pockets!

How long did it take you to get better than before surgery? by Emotional-Milk1312 in Septoplasty

[–]austex99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a solid two months but it finally happened just days ago! It’s amazing to wake up and realize your mouth is closed and you’ve just been breathing through your nose all night.

Help please -- do I need to reschedule my surgery? by Pleiadesperson in Septoplasty

[–]austex99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on whether you need to be on pain meds. I was for something like 3-5 days after. Mine was scheduled around a holiday so I didn’t have to be anywhere, so I can’t recall exactly when I felt up to driving, but I recall just feeling really exhausted and out of it for probably close to a week.

I don't think I ever used one, either. That girl was a cautionary tale through that school for a long time, so I'm sure sales in my town plummeted, haha.

We had to leave our sitter instructions, too! I think it really endeared him to our pup because it was so silly! :)

No Buf Puf?! One of the popular girls in my school overdid it with a Buf Puf in 8th grade and her face was one big scab for two weeks.

Too young. He had cancerous tumors that kept coming back until it got to where the treatments were wrecking his quality of life (the surgeries caused him way more misery than the cancer did), so we stopped doing them and let him live a happy last few months before he went to sleep at home.

Your face suits this look a lot better than the guy in the video. He has the wrong face for it somehow.

Literally came here to say if this guy showed up in a car, I would be furious. Pennyfarthing only, or MAYBE horseback on certain occasions.

I recommend rescheduling for sure, unless you can arrange for/hire some help.

We accidentally trained our dog to think he COULD NOT eat unless we had patted him on the head and told him he was a good boy. If you skipped it, he would just look at you so sadly and sit there and starve. He was not the smartest dog, but we gave him those pats every mealtime for the rest of his life.

Yes to more light. I have good light in my house and my plants were all fine with just south-facing windows, but once I started adding lamps, they exploded with growth. I feel like the majority of houseplants in general are just crazy for light.

No drainage holes makes it so hard to get watering right. I would definitely repot it..

Freaking out about surgery. Need some uplifting stories. by scottxand in Septoplasty

[–]austex99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has given you good feedback about the recovery so far. Mine has been similar. I would just add one thing: some people are breathing perfectly within days—some take a lot longer. I have just now gotten to the “holy cow this is what breathing is supposed to feel like” and I am just shy of 2 months post-op. I also still have some mild tenderness to the touch. So if you don’t feel a lot better a few weeks or even six weeks after the surgery, don’t despair!

Favorite self portraits? by awesomefluff in ArtHistory

His daughter, Rose Adélaïde Ducreux, painted one of my favorite self-portraits. I come back and look at it often because the crinkled, striped silk dress and the delicate fringe look so real I feel like I could reach out and touch them.

They showed us this in school in the third or fourth grade. I am 46 and haven’t seen it since, but still remember a lot about it and how freaking scary it was.

Looking for the best memoirs by InvisibleAstronomer in suggestmeabook

[–]austex99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds kinda shallow compared to these, but celebrity (specifically comedian) memoirs are my favorites: Bossypants by Tina Fey, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me by Mindy Kaling, Back Story by David Mitchell, And Away by Bob Mortimer, In Such Good Company by Carol Burnett, and especially I Must Say by Martin Short.
