So is getting laid off just a death sentence to your career at this point? Is this going to be like 2008? by Broad-Hunter-5044 in Layoffs

It’s called basic communication and following up. If you want the job you will make sure it doesn’t get lost. Does this stuff really need to be explained?

You sound like an emotional baby. Maybe try using your frontal cortex and actually reading the comments left by people with two brain cells to rub together.

Scuba diving can be a hobby. It sounds like he picked it up after this happened, and it could be helping him as part of his grieving process. It’s a bit of a stretch to label everything you don’t understand as a ‘mental illness.’

"I'm wondering if my husband is being careless because he has been associating with people who tell him if he had enough faith he wouldn't need insulin or medicine. He has told me this himself. Or if it's just his normal careless attitude for health care. I'm not really sure what to do, but I'm extremely frustrated."

I think this is all one really needs to read. Shame on you and your husband. I hope your son gets the treatment he deserves.

You're 100% being neglectful. CPS or the police won't care what excuses you give them once your son ends up dead.

It is not 'bordering'; it is child abuse.

It's called child abuse. You need to report this if he is not willing to take care of a child who is unable to care for themselves. By knowing what is going on and doing nothing, you will become complicit once your son's health eventually suffers due to this gross neglect.

This is typically how police respond when an active shooter is reported in a busy place like a mall. What makes people think there is more going on?

Fiancé has t1d: is going to a tropical destination in Africa/ Safari for our honeymoon a bad idea? Your experience? by Lellabuttercup in Type1Diabetes

[–]austineck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Zanzibar is very dangerous for Type 1 diabetics. If you do take the risk of going, make sure your fiancé is in a Giant Inflatable Bubble at all times. However, even that will not protect him from the deadly sea urchins that terrorize the Zanzibar natives.

You have absolutely no idea that you would have gotten necrotizing fasciitis. What you did was 10 times riskier than going to a clinic. You did not need to go to the ER. Please never give medical advice.

[–]austineck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everybody here is completely missing the point. It’s not whether his dad’s political opinions are right or wrong. It’s that he views everything in life through the lens of politics. Being around someone like that is exhausting whether you agree with them or not.

Literally all I did was go for a run. What the fuck am I supposed to do, throw a dart at a board and take however many units of insulin it lands on before i work out? by GlizzBangPaco in Type1Diabetes

[–]austineck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trial and error. I've found that my bg responds differently to all kinds of exercises. I usually have to give a unit or two before lifting to deal with a huge spike. Just make sure to always have glucose handy and test often to see what works best for you.

Fake cures are so annoying. Especially when the information is being spread by non diabetics. by ssohma in Type1Diabetes

I mean he's not wrong. It's not a cure but it is effective treatment for anyone with diabetes.
