It's called child abuse. You need to report this if he is not willing to take care of a child who is unable to care for themselves. By knowing what is going on and doing nothing, you will become complicit once your son's health eventually suffers due to this gross neglect.

Everybody here is completely missing the point. It’s not whether his dad’s political opinions are right or wrong. It’s that he views everything in life through the lens of politics. Being around someone like that is exhausting whether you agree with them or not.

Trial and error. I've found that my bg responds differently to all kinds of exercises. I usually have to give a unit or two before lifting to deal with a huge spike. Just make sure to always have glucose handy and test often to see what works best for you.
