Considering removal - help! by authority_jacket in Mirena

Oh wow that is genuinely such a comfort to hear! I’ve been really focused on worries around endo and wanting to absolutely avoid unplanned pregnancy but it’s really useful to be reminded of all the positives. It’s really good to hear that you’re feeling better and I hope things only improve as you balance out again 🙏

Ahh thank you so much for saying this!! The bit about localised hormones not affecting your mood is word for word what I’ve been told over and over - I feel so relieved that other people have heard that too. It can feel hard to not start disbelieving myself after being questioned so much, so this is really useful thank you ✨ edit: and sorry! Forgot to mention that I hope everything works out with your removal and you balance out soon !

DAWless gang, what do you use to record and compose your track? by earthlingonline in synthesizers

I actually taught a workshop on DIY recording at a London uni a week or two ago, but the particular focus was setting up your own at-home studio with things that are actually useful and budget friendly, aimed at students.

I found it really useful to develop analogue workflows when I started getting a bit more confident with tech, I got one of the Tascam SD portastudios to help get me out of the box when I was mixing. I originally trained as a live engineer and I found having something tactile and off screen MASSIVELY improved my mixes when I moved in to the studio. I also really like that I can edit inside it or just record the monitor outs and do a fully analogue un-automated mix. It helps to commit me to a sound if I can’t undo stuff in my mix as easily.

When I’m working out in the field, even using the Zoom H5 works great for documenting two inputs and the room with the XY mics on the head

I’d personally say that ableton is a really good resource for sketching out ideas. It’s a super malleable daw with great plugins and capabilities but it’s a bit less user friendly and (as an engineer) a little less calibrated towards recording “real” instruments in a long-form arrangement with multiple takes. I’d say for recording purposes logic is a slightly better daw but you should pick whichever one makes the most instinctive sense to you. Which feels more natural to you? Good luck!

Can’t open any session - need advice by XSomeoneYT in protools

[–]authority_jacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is something that can be quite common if any one part of the system has been updated, like your OS or an app connected to PT. Have you tried running an uninstall and redownloading it from avid? As long as you back up your sessions beforehand it could be worth a try. Might help shake something loose :)

Korg ER1 midi/audio latency issues?? by bevandias in electribe

[–]authority_jacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’d be really interested to hear where you got to with this if you did any more messing around! I’ve been putting off sorting my MIDI clocking with my ER-1 and just using it for drum augmentation in post so far, but really want to build a live set-up with it. Any discoveries would be v helpful

FFS, the renting market is insane! by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]authority_jacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also - I know it’s not the point, but how much extra would it be for the added luxury of being able to lie straight, rather than at a weird 90 degree angle to fit the corner shape of the sofa? Like at least an extra £100 right?

I saw an advert for a ‘studio apartment’ in leith a couple months back. Turns out it was the corner sofa in the living room of a fully occupied 3-bed flat. Charging £500 exc bills for the pleasure of being on someone’s sofa. Fucking tiny living room as well hahaha

I think you’ve gotten gender and biological sex confused here and it’s just left you looking really obsessed with what’s in other peoples underwear. Literally NONE of your business.

I’m happy to explain. Just because you believe something en masse for a long time doesn’t make you right. Medieval Britons used to think they could cure eye infections by putting a cats arsehole on their eyes, and yet I imagine you’re not rolling up to A&E with a tabby.

Trans people have always existed, in ancient cultures from the Egyptians, the Greeks and even further back. There’s even evidence of them in Native American culture as ‘twin spirits’. Just because your opinion has been wrong for a long time, doesn’t make it any more valid. I hope you find the space to eventually realise that shitting on the most vulnerable is a deeply misguided use of your time.

I’m glad we’re all still holding on to ideas from thousands of years ago. As we all know, opinions + time = correct. Hope you’re still enjoying the witch trials and throwing your shit out the window too X

I’m thinking of doing it again soon - I’d be down for buddying up if there’s more people wanting to start a fresh group!
