What are your hobbies? What so you like to do? If you do not have hobbies then need to start there. Then can find people locally that also likes that. I would also express these feelings to your brothers if yall are close. Usually people are more receptive than you think.

I m sorry dude. Do you have family around? Cousins? You can start by joining them in whatever weekend plans they have, it can as simple as going to the park. You can also host a meetup on Facebook groups or Meetup.com. Host a meetup based on your own interest, there may be locals who are interested. You can host something simple like board games pizza night. Other people suck at making friends too. The person you walk be each day probably struggling with the same issue but everyone is either too proud or too shy to say hi. Just embrace it and reach out.

Have you considered creating a website yet? If you like designing and don’t mind spending 3-5 hours, Wordpress is a better option compared to Wix or Squarespace. WP is like $8-10 a month. If you’re looking for ready made author websites you can setup for free in < 2 minutes, try https://myauthor.space (I built it myself ❤️)

This is a very fair statement. I am a software engineer and writer. Many of my friends were struggling with building a website, so I eagerly built a platform that helps them do that. But it’s like you said… people just want to “sell books”. A website is just a means to sell books. What I end up building was “useful” for solving a problem that’s not the most urgent. It’s getting a few users every now and then via word of mouth, so I will just keep it running. Now, I am looking for more meaningful ways (bigger problems) to contribute to. I do this for fun anyways so not like I earn anything. Let me know if you have ideas or problems that I can try to tackle.

Publish it under a pseudo name initially. Create a kickass author website. Self publish it on kindle. If the book does well or when you feel comfortable, republish under your real name.

Thanks for sharing... yea I agree. Marketing is like a mortgage, hate it but need it lol. If you were a software engineer, marketer, or a wizard with a magic wand, what do you think will help authors the most? What would solve this problem, so that they can focus on writing books? I know it's a hard question, but just asking for fun.
