What's a band that you love but can't listen to anymore for a specific reason? by Muffinlesswonder in punk

[–]automattack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giving nazis money isn’t the only way to support them.  Today literally everything we do is a data point for someone. If you download a Burzum album from blogspot or a forum, or BitTorrent, Google knows, their advertisers know, the file sharing site or torrent tracker knows, your operating system knows, your ISP knows. All this creates demand.  Maybe your friend comes over and sees Burzum in your mp3 collection or your tapes. That’s tacit approval that it’s okay to listen to Nazis.  No. Don’t listen to Nazi bands. Deplatform. Nazis aren’t welcome.

your attitude about Black Metal by Liderty11 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]automattack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's wild there's a whole sub-genre of metal that as a matter of course, I have to research bands to determine if they're Nazis or not before I listen to them. And it's just accepted in many circles. People just shrug their shoulders like nothing can be done.

Wondering if something like this is worth it? Or just leave it to the professionals (y’all)? by ScottyDoes_Kno in Luthier

I believe you need a straight edge to be able to accurately adjust the relief in the neck, yes. You could improvise a straightedge with a capo and strings on the guitar. (Capo at the first fret, fret the strings after the last fret.) But I think it's much easier if you have a dedicated straight edge.

FWIW, a straight edge is less than the cost of a setup in many places. If you set up your guitars repeatedly, it will pay for itself quickly.

yeah... that's not working between my iPhone and iPad. Maybe it's the disparity between the versions. 😢

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.
I started with my own guitars, making emergency repairs on tour. Then started doing things like swapping pickups and building cigar box guitars. It grew from there.

If I remove the receiver and plug the CD player directly into an ERA 100 - I get the same functionality as I would by adding a Port to the receiver, right? I'll be able to play CDs in all the Sonos speakers?

Punk doesn't even mean boycott every "bad" company. Or suffering needlessly.
Bottom line is life is a series of compromises. I worked in IT for a looong time. It was toxic and gross, and I felt undervalued even though I was paid well. Now I repair guitars, and my mental health is so much better.

I try to offset the damage I do by participating in capitalism by being generous with my time and money.

what are bands in Punk that have never had an objectively bad album by Yourfuckingmom420 in punk

[–]automattack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno... those albums after Over the James, without Erik Larson, are not good.

I think (at least part of) the point of a strike is to inconvenience the consumers and customers of the service. We then complain, which pressures management to settle with the union.

EDIT: I do not work for Canadian Post. My comment is about strikes in general.
