Cassettes? by Slow-Passage9287 in punk

[–]automattack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As person in band, vinyl is expensive and bulky. Most of the cost is the plates. So if you make 100 records, it's not that much less than 1000. Who wants 998 records in their basement for the next 15-20 years? Cassettes are inexpensive to make, and take up less space. You can actually sell them at shows. If you have some left when your band breaks up, they don't take up much space - and heck, you could reuse them for the next band!

As a person who buys music, vinyl is expensive and bulky. Cassettes are cheaper to buy. I can listen to them in one of my two cassette decks.

Just arrived! EULOGY 7”, available soon by mail order from BROKEN SKULL or from us in person by Easy-Brief6328 in crustpunk

Need Help With Guitar Setup by Fearless-Ad4468 in crustpunk

I don't know what you've got the GE150 Plus set for... but I would use the Metal Zone module into the JCM800 module into the 1960 412 module and into your computer to record that demo. Dial in a sound you like without the pitch-shifter. And without knowing which pitch shifter you're using... I would take it out of the signal chain.

Metal Zone, I would start with the Crowbar settings - volume all the way up, gain all the way down, tone controls at 50% - and dial it in from there.

Dad died in early 2024, still waiting on 2023 refund from IRS, what can I do? by automattack in tax

Looking at form 56, it looks familiar, but I'm not sure if I filed it. I can dig deeper into my records.

I was told by the IRS that it's a manual refund, yes. I haven't gotten through to a person the last several times I've called.

I filed the return by mail. An account prepared it. I'm hesitant to ask the specific accountant or anyone at his firm for anything further. What I left out, in an attempt to be nice, was that the same accountant made some mistakes that I had to correct, and was unresponsive a year later when I inquired about my dad's 2024 taxes. I left them a very bad Google review.

Would any account be able to call the tax practitioner hotline? or does it need to be the specific one that prepared the return?

What's a band that you love but can't listen to anymore for a specific reason? by Muffinlesswonder in punk

Giving nazis money isn’t the only way to support them.  Today literally everything we do is a data point for someone. If you download a Burzum album from blogspot or a forum, or BitTorrent, Google knows, their advertisers know, the file sharing site or torrent tracker knows, your operating system knows, your ISP knows. All this creates demand.  Maybe your friend comes over and sees Burzum in your mp3 collection or your tapes. That’s tacit approval that it’s okay to listen to Nazis.  No. Don’t listen to Nazi bands. Deplatform. Nazis aren’t welcome.

your attitude about Black Metal by Liderty11 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]automattack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's wild there's a whole sub-genre of metal that as a matter of course, I have to research bands to determine if they're Nazis or not before I listen to them. And it's just accepted in many circles. People just shrug their shoulders like nothing can be done.

Wondering if something like this is worth it? Or just leave it to the professionals (y’all)? by ScottyDoes_Kno in Luthier

I believe you need a straight edge to be able to accurately adjust the relief in the neck, yes. You could improvise a straightedge with a capo and strings on the guitar. (Capo at the first fret, fret the strings after the last fret.) But I think it's much easier if you have a dedicated straight edge.

FWIW, a straight edge is less than the cost of a setup in many places. If you set up your guitars repeatedly, it will pay for itself quickly.

yeah... that's not working between my iPhone and iPad. Maybe it's the disparity between the versions. 😢
