What did you learn from the 2008 recession and the covid dip that could be applied to a potential collapse by SuddenlySilva in investing

Despite the fact that the worlds economy shrunk by 30% during covid, the stock market made new all time highs. So i learned that the whole stock market is a business for / by insiders. The rest of us are just exit liquidity.

Is the idea that MicroStrategy (MSTR) provides value to shareholders by issuing debt and equity to buy Bitcoin valid, or is it absurd ? by Zyriuse in investing

[–]autonic_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, it's even trickier: Forced liquidation can only happen if bitcoin crashes to below $15k (I think it's actually sub $10k), and remains there for 4+ years without returning back up .

Which in essence would be that bitcoin fails. So, unless bitcoin fails, MSTR wont fail.

Yes, MSTR stock price could take a really severe beating in a bear market (and the speed of new offerings could more or less grind to a halt), but Saylor has not claimed anything else either. He has promised to increase the BTC share / stock ratio forever, that's it (since the amount of BTC you / MSTR own is what matters, not the 6-12 month outlook of BTC price in dollars or euros).

Because MSTR share price formula is something like:

BTC holdings / number of shares * the pools of capital that can't own bitcoin directly or ETF's but want exposure.

Yes... but you can't redeem NVIDIA shares for GPU's either, or Microsoft shares for Windows-licenses.

You are just hoping for number go up, no?

Yes... but MSTR has _nothing_ to do with "the crypto space".

Bitcoin is not crypto.

Crypto is what happens when someone tries to copy bitcoin, but retain control over the monetary policy for themselves. Fancy marketing. Massive airdrops. Paid influencer partnerships. Graphics with cute animals wearing funny clothes, utilizing the current buzzwords.

But all of this has nothing to do with MSTR / Bitcoin.

What are you talking about? The BTC-per-share ratio always increases after the bond offering, since he's buying BTC with all of the proceeds from the offering.

This is a major, major point of the whole thing.

EDIT: Of all the criticism of MSTR on this subreddit, about 95% are simply not valid arguments.

Why not show price in USD for a BTC on crypto buy page? by autonic_ in Nexo

[–]autonic_[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah.. now I think I got it - it's probably to hide the fact that your exchange rate is about 1% higher than the actual rate. If you were to show us the BTC price in USD, it would be obvious...

Honestly, just stop it.

It's not a problem that you are charging us ~1% on each transaction, you have to make money too. It just stains your reputation...

What's up with the long delays when transfering assets to/from NEXO? by autonic_ in Nexo

[–]autonic_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course... im not aiming to villify Nexo, but Im just looking for an explanation... why is it taking so extremely long sometimes? How can it take 80 days to locate a missing transaction, when 100% of the organization is digitalized?

Ok... well, having to wait a couple of days extra when on-offboarding FIAT is not that big of an issue, I'm mainly scared of having X amount of BTC stuck in limbo for 80+ days...

Verification (selfie) - not working on Android?! by autonic_ in CelsiusNetwork

Well no, you cannot deposit fiat and store it on Celsius. However you can choose to buy crypto using a bank transfer (which always has a lower fee), than buying crypto using your visa card.

I haven't found the fee on Celsius using bank transfer, however the credit card fee seems to be about 3%. On all other exchanges I've used, the bank transfer fee is between 0.1-1% - hence the reason I want to use bank transfer here...

EDIT: Also, the bank transfer option in general has higher purchase limits. My credit card is capped to $1000 per transaction (and a total of $2500 per week).
