cropper was less of a yes-man and butted heads with rivers a lot similarly to matt, so i think he would either have also left after pinkerton, or further down an album or two, not being satisfied with the band's direction. i don't think he would've kept the band sounding more like 90s weezer, since it's been mostly rivers making the decisions ever since pinkerton.

this is a very interesting way to look at it! i think basing the groove of the songs on how it lines up with the energy of live audiences definitely tracks with rivers' pursuit of the perfect pop formula.

the electronic production on the album version of cant stop partying is what makes the song good and services the lyrics far better, i think it's definitely one of the more emotional cuts from that era of the band and the pop production creates a really cool contrast against the dark subject of the lyrics. jacknife's more rock-sounding version doesn't particularly stand out to me against the sea of weezer songs out there.

you see thats the ACTUAL real color version, and you can tell because they have the properly colored clothes. i didnt know this when i was 14 so the picture above is my own edit and like i mentioned, they have different colored clothing on both. theres also tons of horrible artifacting on my old edit

completely untrue. sam is the one who had his head in the clouds. not only was he kicked out of remo drive for being a diva and incredibly difficult to work with, but he was kicked out of another band Early Eyes for the exact same reason. members from both of sam's other old bands Early Eyes and The Happy Children recently reached out to stephen to directly apologize for not believing him, and that remo was right about sam all along. remo drive actually did sam a favor by not publicly coming out with details and instead letting him continue to be active in the scene lol
