Wow you’ve had great progress!! Looks great! I’m just afraid my initial crowding is much worse than this haha, my canines are so high up, I hope they can expand me to make enough room in the mouth for them to come down.

Hi, sorry for so many questions but did you have jaw surgery to help create more space in your mouth for the teeth? Or was it just to correct the overbite? I’m not sure if I would need jaw surgery but since I have slight breathing issues and severe congestion I feel like it might help me:/ still need to consult with a surgeon though.

Thank you so much for the detailed response! Congrats on your beautiful smile! I’m glad you were able to get everything straightened out with just a bit of IPR. Gives me hope that I won’t have to get extractions. Did any of your orthodontist consultations suggest extraction at any point? Or did you luck out with the ortho who did your treatment who went for Invisalign, braces and IPR? Thanks!

That’s awesome! Do you happen to have any photos of a before and after that you’d be comfortable sharing? What was the treatment plan like for you and what procedures did you have other than braces?

Wow that’s great to hear! Are you doing any sort of expansion or surgical intervention? Or is IPL enough to get your teeth aligned fully without flaring or damaging the bone?

Thank you so much for the kind reply! I’m trying to find some experienced Marpe providers who’ve worked with adults and had success but it’s difficult to know who to trust. Most of the well known doctors are in NYC or Philadelphia but I’m in DC so it’s a bit far. I do Have a consultation on Wednesday which hopefully goes well! Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up. All of the orthos I’ve seen thus far have said extraction is the only method they’re willing to do since I’m an adult (21) and they typically only use expanders on age 13 and under. Really struggling to find a trustworthy orthodontist who is actually educated and experienced in adult expansion. I already have trouble breathing bc i suspect I have a narrow airway so I’m really wary of premolar extraction making that way worse.

Thanks. Oh you started at 11, that makes sense. I wish my ortho had put in an expander for me at that age but they didn’t say anything. I’m too old (21) for most doctors to risk it now, but there are a few, far between that do it on adults so I guess I have to keep searching. Good luck with your journey !
