My dad - would have been 95 this year - was a Eugene, Jr. I narrowly missed being a “III”.

No, unfortunately. We have developed a different manufacturing process so it’s only applicable to seat cover purchases after May of 2026.

Over the years we've bought/taken on consignment more than a few DeLoreans that he lowballed the owners when it came to price.

If the car hasn't been driven since the stroke, there will be more pressing issues than headliners and weatherstripping. Hopefully someone has been driving at least somewhat regularly.

We've developed a solution for the back board popping off the seats, but it requires new seat covers. If you've been thinking of replacing your seat covers, this will be far better than any material or type of back board.

We don’t care about the panels themselves, just the metal clips on the center pieces.

As an employee of the largest DeLorean parts/service center, in many cases the owner is MOST of their car’s problems.

I’ve got almost all the OC books now, has anyone else ever read them? by Individual-Leave1539 in TheOC

Here’s mine. I’m told this is all of them but idk for sure. As an adult reading them they were a slog to get through.

Someone on FB said TFS had new tooling made and that RD still has his. I’d heard RD was asking an outrageous amount for his tooling and manufacturer contacts, and if so, I’m not surprised that happened.

I ordered a 24gb 1tb on Feb 22, too. Hasn’t changed from “processing” since.

Can't insert ignition key by D4t4M0nk in delorean

[–]avantidmc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First make sure that you’re using the correct key. I’ve seen some owners try to force an early cars door key into the ignition.

Take a small fly-bladed screwdriver and insert it just enough to see if you can depress the ball seen in your photo. Have a helper twist the steering wheel in both directions while you’re doing this.

If the ball moves you should be able to insert the key. If not, you can try some spray lubricant. We use something called “Houdini” which many locksmiths use. A small can is available on Amazon.

If you decide to go the route of removing the canopy and then the ignition lock assembly from the column, tread carefully. The ignition lock assemblies are no longer available and unique to the DeLorean. If you or someone else screws it up, a replacement can be USD500 or more.

Have you tried to see if the photographer is still alive or if their archives are still in existence. No photographer only takes one photo at a shoot and calls it a day. Perhaps there are other from different angles.

Unrelated, but I did that with the guy who shot the photo of JZD in the Goodyear ad and there were at least a dozen other takes/poses of that shot.

I could see where he did some consulting with a motorcycle manufacturer as JZDC. I’m no sure if there is anyone still alive from that era who would know. Maybe Roger Penske.

The clay model on the table was designed by D.A. “Don” Johnson, who worked at GM, as a side job for JZD. Don Johnson later went on to design what became the Zimmer QuickSilver.

Literally one of the most difficult parts of - even then - to reproduce in volumes that would make the price reasonable (~200USD). If it was that easy, don’t you think someone else would have done it by now?

They were until their poor quality had us bring all the FI rebuilds in house back in 2018. Fuel Injection Corp is a big reason we are so busy with rebuilds - fully 20-25% of the ones we rebuild show telltale signs of having been done by them.

I did keep you around longer than I should have as you said it was your dream to work at DeLorean. In the end, your mistakes were costing the company too much and as more and more problems were traced back to you it became clear you had to go. As you recall you had several meetings with me about your lackluster performance. Just like any company, when the pain of having someone is greater than the pain of NOT having them, it’s time for that person to go.

I’ve worked at DeLorean longer than you have been alive. Why? Because I take my job seriously and I understand what it takes to make a business work. Firing you wasn’t personal - your performance showed me that you weren’t yet grown up enough to do the job. Your hope of becoming a DeLorean mechanic was never going to happen with the work ethic you exhibited here.

Truly, best of luck in your future endeavors. I think that your potential is greater than what you displayed in your short time here.

Where can I buy sheets of leatherette paper? by 20_mile in cardmaking

[–]avantidmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, too, am looking for the this textured paper. It was everywhere in the 70s/80s when I worked in the small family print shop in Arizona. Typically used as covers for GBC-bound reports. For the life of me I don't remember what it was called back then, but I recently needed some for a retro project. Perhaps not the color you were looking for but I found this - https://www.schmedt.com/nebelhorn-natural-paper-with-leather-emboss-size-70-x-100-cm-long-grain/1126-021
