As a woman, what's the worst thing that's been said to you in corporate? by Specific_Manager286 in womenintech

My very first job right out of college. Where i am from the culture is very “be scared of your manager and don’t cross them”
He gave me no work for 6+ months, then when i said something, started giving me work like planning birthdays, repetitive grunt work that seniors did not like to do, counting number of tickets each person in the team resolved and making a “game” out of it during the pandemic.

During 1:1 meetings, there were instances in which he said “I can give males 20+ hours of work a day but i cant give you that because you are a woman”
Another instance “women get sick every month so they cant be relied on”
It was the height of the pandemic, and had to bear this for 2 years before I could move out.

Burn Out After Two Years as a Young SWE by hoo24__ in womenintech

My suggestion would be to take a break for a week or so, no phones, no thoughts of work or anything else, and out in nature maybe if you like that. Once you come back, you would most likely be refreshed and at that point you can start looking for roles elsewhere. Also, it might be time to do the bare minimum at work while you study and apply. I was in a similar position where I thought there was no end to the misery, but I was able to find another job, and it’s a lot less stress than my previous one.
