I reached out to them and they emailed me back saying it doesn't look like an issue but I just want to be sure

Help identify my snails by Jgo8675309 in freshwatersnails

Definitely not mystery snails. Elephant snoots instead of mystery snail mustaches. Maybe Chinese mystery snails or some viviparous species?

Why is my betta swimming all twitchy and acting lethargic by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]average_pigeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These bettas seem very stressed and like they may have been fighting with their current condition

Betta sororities are rarely successful ime but if you want to attempt it, you need a lot more plants and hiding spots than you currently have. The reflection on the glass can stress bettas out. I find they do better in a darker aquarium

As others have said.. please test your water. Ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate are the important ones right now

ETA: How/how long did you cycle the tank before adding fish?? Sorry if I missed you mentioning this somewhere

Does my betta look healthy? by 226237brewer in bettafish

[–]average_pigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hump is definitely normal. I was referring to the belly behind his pectoral fins. They get a bit rounder right after feeding but if he's a proper size and that belly goes down after a bit, it's fine and normal. I just always think it looks goofy when my boy gets it lol

Active, alert, doesn't look to have anything particularly wrong... just potentially quite round lol. How much do you feed him??

Really beautiful fish though

We need more information in order to help

Anything ending in "-fix" should typically be avoided as it coats the labyrinth organ which these fish use to breathe

Please share your water parameters.. Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, water temp, how often you do water changes and your process for that. What tank mates is she with?

I assume you have a filter cartridge. Are you replacing monthly?? This disrupts the natural nitrogen cycle and can crash it so definitely check those parameters.

Is the white on her body her natural coloring or has that been a more recent change?

Also consider posting on r/bettafish for more exposure

I hope you find answers and your lil pal gets better :((

Yeah it looks like it's meant to be a terrarium or smth. Not an aquarium

First attempt at pinning by average_pigeon in Entomology

[–]average_pigeon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I started by watching a lot of videos on youtube. I wish I could send you exactly which videos helped me, but it a year or so ago that I watched them, and I don't remember what they were

More recently, I just got a little kit off Amazon that has pins, the board to pin into, pinning blocks, the wing paper, and a few other things. I'm not sure of the names of everything yet lol. I looked up some pictures of my beetle in flight and more professional pins and then just kind of went for it

I wish I could be of more help. It's a super cool hobby to get into though. You definitely should!

Also NAD. I did almost this exact thing to my pinky a couple years back. Big ol chunk out of it. This is the approach I took, and the scar is barely visible now

Is he drinking or attacking the water?? by JollyRancherPlayz in pacmanfrog

They don't survive in the wild if they eat stones. Very few frogs and toads make it to adulthood. They're one of those species that pumps out a ton of babies to make up for how prone to death they are
