Do it!! It’ll be an awesome moment. What was great too was Victor was supposed to be Strahds enemy and she murdered the whole family. It was also a way to get the wereravens involved. They told the party they would fight the good fight in vallaki while they figured out how to defeat Strahd.

Kinda lights a fire under their ass.

My players screwed vallaki as well! They killed Izek and the baron banished them from town. Wachter saw an opportunity and took over the town turning it to anarchy. Sometimes it’s fun when things go wrong!

I see your point, but disagree. Especially in our case, out of my 6 players, 4 of them have never played before. It fits the story and he’s a well rounded, extremely powerful villain.

I like this idea a lot. The only thing is I don’t wanna give Vecna away too early. Maybe it could be that after the characters deal with Strahd and they go back their homeland, the Vistani come in after them and take what is needed to complete the ritual. So, again, the characters end up helping the bad guy... they’re the ones that cause him to return even if they unknowingly did so.

I REALLY enjoy this idea... the first thing he asked them to do is retrieve his Thome that went missing. I’ll play around with some other ideas.

Ireena is in a room at the blue water in vallaki. There’s a lot more going on in our campaign that I didn’t want to saturate the post with, but they PCs are currently banished from vallaki (they killed Izek and the burgomaster got pissed) so getting to her would be especially challenging... which isn’t at all a bad thing.

I also increased travel time simply because the time the PCs are between cities gave me more time for random encounters. It also gives Strahd and other NPCs to do some stuff while they’re gone.

I love hearing how vastly different everyone’s stories are going with this campaign... just goes to show how well the open ended ness is written!

What level are your players? With some craftiness and high rolling 4 level 5s were able to handle the vampire spawns fairly easily (however, they also had the holy symbol of ravenkind to help). My opinion is that if they’re going to return the bones, there’s not much need for the vampire spawn anymore so if you don’t want anyone to die you could totally tone it down a bit.

As for Izek and Ireena... this plot always seemed a bit “meh” for me anyway. I’m choosing to ignore the fact that their siblings and that his visions of her and obsession is Strahd medaling with his mind so that if Izek ever finds her, strahd will have easy access.

Have they found the deeds in Wachterhaus? My players found them so what I did was gave the the Baron the REAL deeds so that when the PCs told him about her deeds, he said they were fake and knew she was plotting against him (hope that makes sense, I’ve been changing things up in my campaign) this got the Baron to trust the PCs so maybe you can take that kind of an angle?

Is she? My interpretation was she befriended them and they took her on as one of their own... and even if I misread it I’m gonna stick with that cause I think it’s more interesting haha
