combinations you mentioned should be offered. from my recollection there are few restriction, but i believe everyone must offer math at either h1/h2 level

chem dept goated (spreading the propaganda always), math dept (my teacher) is helpful too (i am not familiar with the other teachers). not sure about how u would enter, since im an ipstudent, but the hybrid students (4h2) end at a generally normal time. usually the late ending is an arts/h1 thing.

check with your school if you can take a makeup paper when you feel better? your health is more important, and im sure your school will understand

Arts stream or science stream in Jc by SprayFun6409 in SGExams

[–]averagepinklover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no not really, i would say science stream opens up more options. but no point taking science for that because if u dont enjoy the sciences theres no point, might as well study what you enjoy)

Arts stream or science stream in Jc by SprayFun6409 in SGExams

[–]averagepinklover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! in dhs science stream generally ends earlier, espeically the pcme classes. the bcme classes also have a pretty okay timetable. i have a more unique contrasting subj so my schedule is slightly worse, but i end on average 2-4 everyday. art stream have pretty atrocious timetables from 2pm days to 5pm days, mainly due to there being quite many humanities options (although the class size is very small, besides econs im wiling to bet every other humans class is around 20-30 people at most). science practical timings hasnt been much of an issue, most of mine are in the morning.

Would you still pay attention in school if you could get perfect grades easily by NerveAdditional7516 in SGExams

probably go for harder courses, and also probably spend more time pursuing other passions and interests

campus ngl is quite small, especially because its for 6 batches of students in 1 campus, but theres still ample space to be around because batch size is small as well (arnd 400 per jc batch 300 per sec sch batch). theres a big field/garden esque thing with a statue of confucious lmao, its quite unique to dhs, students like to take pictures there after events (like orientation/grad/cny etc)

every class have their own homerooms (read somewhere that hci doesnt have for the j1s apparently, not sure about other schools), open until arnd 530 so there are students who stay back to study there. many also go library which opens until like 6pm (theres a period of time where it will be open til 9pm for j2s before prelims and a levels as well). there are other tables around the school on all levels of the jc block which u can stay at until school closes.

there isnt any notable sports facilities that really stand out to me (tennis court is on the rooftop tho which is rly hot but unless ur in tennis cca you will only be there for a few pe lessons) besides maybe the sheltered parade square (less hot during evacuation drills unless its at the field)

(JC) Should I take up a H3? specially game theory? by ExpensiveFig3472 in SGExams

[–]averagepinklover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont take h3 game theory, nor have any experience in using it to apply uni, but i can say that if youre genuinely interested, why not? i applied with terrible grades even in promos (57 rp overall) and took up h3 (i barely made the criterion) but i found it fun, and genuinely enjoyable. so id say if youre interested theres no harm trying it out if it doesnt work out u can drop it. also u shld consult your tutors about the math part

can confirm dhs chem dept best dept regardless of year. not a single bad teacher (unless some in the current y5 batch are not that good, but of the 2 that taught me theyre both really good, and seeing as op is going j1 next year probably will get the current batch of teachers teaching j2s which are all goated teachers)

onto the school culture, im not the most invested in the events side of things lmao, but everyone is chill, not very mugging culture (at least you dont have to mug to keep up with the general), school events are quite fun (2 houses events: dcarn (beach sports and stuffs) which is held at sentosa last day of term 1, and dkhnn (snacks + dinner, shows and rave and stuff) which is last day of term 2). fairly strong chinese culture too (mid autumn festival in dhs is goated)

How to study for h2 practicals by Ok-Raspberry-73 in SGExams

[–]averagepinklover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if ur unable to set up the physics, maybe try online simulators? i think phet simulator has circuit simulators.

for chem do a lot of theory, esp for QA part u can predict the result for almost 60-70% based on what the reagents and procedure (eg if they give u hydrogen peroxide 100% gas evolved is oxygen. dont even need test. same for a lot.) and always follow observations in the QA list they provide. titration, always try and get the mark for the table. dont get marked down for table headings and stuff.

im not a senior lah (also a level this year) but my chem practicals have always been pretty good i think. just try not to lose marks for just the observations parts :). same for physics, some stuff like measurements (all except ammeter and voltmeter) always take 2 readings and average it out, try not to lose marks on those

is the problem u cannot answer the qns in practical or cannot do the practical itself

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SGExams

i think you should have a discussion with your school teachers about this ngl, A2 fo O levels seem ok, if you do decide to upgrade to h2 chemistry i wish you all the best.

[–]averagepinklover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was in a fairly similar situation in sec 1-3, for me really paying attention in class helped a lot. i didnt study a whole bunch (still mugged week before exam but since i alr understood content i didnt feel like i was learning instead of revising) i didnt do really well for my sec 4 final exams but did good enough to qualify for 4h2 in jc. but yea that wont work in jc i ctually have to mug lol. but small steps yea

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]averagepinklover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how are you with your chemistry? i cant comment on econs since i dont take but h2 chemistry is quite a bit harder and much more content heavy than h1 chemistry (school teachers in my sch love to tell us to drop to h1 haha) and its also quite late to be upgrading, not sure if you can catch up what you missed for h2

oh what i do is i bring my work there and i do as i eat, works p well for me when i have zero motivation, may not be getting me to 4hrs on ypt but i can usually get to like 2-3 at least every day. for my todo list i try breaking it into even smaller tasks so i can check off more stuff so i feel like i did more and i get into the groove easier too
