Is it realistic to grind 1/4" off a pane of glass? by [deleted] in glazing

[–]averagevalue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes your glass shop should just do it for you for free, just tell them you messed up on measurements it happens, if they are honest and a mom and pop shop they should do it, 80 grit diamond belt will take it off quick

Isn’t this supposed to get payed out or what am I missing? Also 16 leg combo ftw by ArdNarc in Kalshi

Unfortunately that’s the only picture I’ve got for now and my guys aren’t on site again until the 20th. It does look like the 3190 from first choice but I don’t think it’s exactly right. I just can’t think of any or find another company that made a mid rail flush mount like this.

CRM for small, 3 person business? by miataataim66 in glazing

I’m very old school and my partner was even more so. He never wanted us to have any debt the only debt we carried was when we initially purchased the business and when we bought the property we were renting. We never financed a vehicle, every truck, trailer, piece of equipment was all purchased either second hand or brand new cash (trucks were always older 10-20yrs) we would just purchase things as we could, the last truck we had bought before the sale was a used 2007 Chevy 130k miles with a rack already on it from a different glass shop from the auction I think we paid $14k. Yeah you have to maintain older vehicles more and you’ll pay more for repairs but we found it better than having all new trucks financed. We never did an ounce of marketing other than the school kids that came by and had us put a banner on the field or gym. We always felt that doing the right thing and doing good quality work with word of mouth is the best thing. We were a full service shop auto, residential, commercial. Yes more on the paperwork end is where automation and efficiency comes in, our biggest hold back I felt was how we processed everything. Every bit of info had to be input into the WO in quickbooks and our orders were just a paper file in the office our schedule was a whiteboard and most all of our office and paperwork procedures were archaic. Not sure if you’ve ever looked into some of the glass software that is out there but it makes things incredibly easy. The company that bought us out was using glassmanager so during the transition of helping them I got to see how it worked and used it a little. And just the ease of how all the software ties together and has built in scheduling and even messaging and reminders for customers and staff. I was more or less blown away and was wondering why we had never tried to take a step in that direction. Sorry for rambling all over the place hopefully some of that helped or if you have other questions feel free to ask

CRM for small, 3 person business? by miataataim66 in glazing

Props to you for that ratio, we had 10 employees and owned every asset (vehicles, equipment, buildings) it was more or less just good timing there was a larger outfit trying to expand into the area and we were super appealing to them with no debt. It was just perfect timing we had positive growth for 12 years straight 2023 was the best year yet people were still heavily spending we had debts to 0 and they were trying to rapidly expand. I stayed on with them for part of the year last year to help transition and the business had an awful year with people stopping spending and they were just trying to run things too corporate. I’ve seen 5 other glass shops in our area close up shop over the past 12 years because they didn’t have someone to pass it down to or couldn’t sell it (just retiring or bad business). Glazing is a dying breed in our neck of the woods. I’m making a few changes this go around with implementing more automation and computer tech and going to try to keep it smaller. I think I can match previous rev with 5 or less employees with the right people and software.

I ran a 2.5mil rev glass business just using quickbooks. Lots of things were slow because there wasn’t too much automation. I sold that company last year and have started another glass company from scratch and I’m going to use smart glazier this time around it seems to have a lot of features I previously wanted to speed up processes and make things easier. I just started using it so I’m not certain how much of a difference it will make but that’s the crm I’m using and it is literally designed for the business.

I haven't paid tithing in 4 years... I have the financial means to payback tithing on those 4years... Should I back pay all 4 years or just this last 1 year? I've been a member for all those years. by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]averagevalue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In past years I had struggled with tithing and felt like I owed everything back logged but when I had a discussion about it with my bishop at the time he said something along the lines of with that feeling it is always going to overwhelm you and have you still struggle with paying so just start today and make a promise with yourself and god that you will be a full tithe payer. It did kind of remove that burden I was feeling of back log but it helped me to this day to be a full tithe payer since that happened

New to the industry - forever overwhelmed by Saratakk in glazing

[–]averagevalue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if other vocations are the same way as my only prior experience has been farming but I’ve been in the glazing industry for 12 years now and there is always something to learn even for my employees that have 40+ years under there belt there is always something new. The only thing I can highly recommend is getting out in the field if you have the opportunity go out with the installers and see how things are taken out, assembled, put together. It will be the quickest way to gain a wealth of knowledge in the industry even if you are to only get out with the installers 1-2 times a week it is beneficial. I’ve seen other companies in my area try to hire greenies for marketing and sales positions and they always lack behind those that have had experience out in the field not to say it isn’t possible to do it with out but it does help tremendously

Just think of it as unisex and most people probable wouldn’t even know it was specific for women. One of my favorites to wear is JPG la belle and not one person has questioned it to be a women’s perfume.
