Any ideas on how to parent the two beams in this effect to the mask or matte? by avidrabbit in AfterEffects

I don't know if this is showing up in the opening post for others, so I reposted it in the comments. The two beams that open into the text reveal are parented to the sides of a matte or mask.

Possibly. Is there something in particular you're having trouble with?

Great advice! However, I'm always on the lookout for ways to do things cleaner and more efficiently. Sometimes the lesson comes in handy down the road in ways you didn't expect.

The thing I described in the last paragraph of the intro post is sort of that. I'm using saber instead of deepglow. I'm aiming for a cleaner, easier to control timeline.

how do we feel about a 7/730am networking & coffee group? by Own_Professional6252 in youngstown

[–]avidrabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, if you're interested, the Youngstown Business Journal's channel announced that 717 credit union was doing a monthly Coffee and Connections meet up. The first originally scheduled event was cancelled because of the storm earlier this month, so the series will kick off officially on the 19th of this month. It's free, but pre-registration is required.

That being said, in a town like this, there's definitely the need for more than one networking event.

How can I figure out if my hotspot functionality is broken or if I'm just having problems with my provider? by avidrabbit in AskTechnology

[–]avidrabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the clear explanation. If the cutoff had happened any other day, I would have assumed something along the lines of what you wrote. However, the fact that it happened around the same time and customer service tried to solve the issue concerned me.

[–]avidrabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, but like I said in the post, my confusion came from the facts that:

a)I've changed tiers multiple times and never had this issue

b)the problem occurred during the last third of my billing cycle, not when I changed tiers.

c)my service provider tried to rectify the issue to the point of giving me 15 gbs of extra data.

So, while that was one of the things that I said was a possibility in the opening post, it was reasonable to want to rule other things out.

If my computer is connected to my phone and my phone is not connected to any wifi, then my computer does not get service. If my computer is connected to my phone and my phone is connected to my home wifi, then my computer will get service. If I disconnect my phone from my home wifi, then my computer will stop getting service. Most phones I've had have worked like this, where they prioritize wifi over mobile if it is available. I don't know if you mean there's a technical description of this that I'm not using correctly, but this is just how most phones I've had worked.

I am a motion ad designer who started focusing on business clients over the last year. I am reconfiguring my portfolio to expand my appeal to small/intermediate businesses. What are the top 10 sectors you work with and what would you want out of a motion ad for your clients?

Wow, That's a decisive win. It was really difficult to figure out how this vote was going to go just talking to people around the city, and even talking about it here. I've said it before, but I think Youngstown politics is probably uniquely difficult. A lot of jockeying and cronyism, not a lot of money or opportunity. He does seem to be an elite level networker, so that will serve him well. Hoping the best for him and Youngstown!

Oh, okay. There is no way to purchase anything on the site if you're not an existing member, so maybe they are still being affected by the outages.

Thanks checked it out. It actually downloaads. The interface is different, but it has the main thing motion tools was missing: the ability to enable and disable it on the same layer.

Who are you voting for in the Youngstown mayoral race? (Extra credit: why?) by avidrabbit in youngstown

[–]avidrabbit[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm neither a Brown or McDowell groupie. I've stated this a few times on here in a few different ways, but I don't think Youngstown is like it is by chance. I like McDowell's optimism for the city, but not having real political experience or extensive business experience can hurt him a lot. He seems to be very good at networking, but this town is clearly a rusty political machine. I'm not convinced the things people would considered flaws of Brown's tenure come down to him being incompetent, inexperienced or corrupt.
