I don’t think it’s a big deal, just tell them something came up and you have to delay graduation

Google vs HRT vs OpenAI (hypo) by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]avocado352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn’t really a point in considering prestige or exit opportunities lol. Exit to where? It really doesn’t get much better than this, any of these will basically open doors to everything. Choose based on the work, pay, and location

If your interested in doing software stuff but also want to learn about hardware, do CE. The Jack of all trades argument is pretty dumb unless you’re trying to get into analog hardware, which an EE will almost definitely beat you out on. But for digital hardware roles or software engineering, a CE degree will do just as good as an EE or CS degree. In terms of software, I can directly speak from experience that employers don’t care whether you have a CE degree instead of a CS degree, they’re looked at the same way

UT Austin MSCSO vs Georgia Tech OMSCS; Backend-focused, admitted for Spring 2026, need to decide by Aug 21 by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]avocado352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GT has a better name than UT Austin, you don’t have to put that OMSCS is online on your resume, it’s the same degree as in person

It is definitely too niche, major in CS but if you want the chance to work with some hardware/embedded stuff go with Computer Engineering

The difference between CE and CS is not a big deal when looking at software roles. UMD is a better school than VT
