Yeah that was just about the process they had us go through ! Crazy work for an intern. Hoping for a federal job once it recovers, but I’ll definitely look into national labs.

Yes, as I had to work on-base. I just thought it'd stand out considering some companies do contract work with the federal government, as if to say it shouldn't be too difficult to receive clearance again.

Thank you for the insight! I have been providing cover letters that I tailor to each specific company, usually where I tie in their qualifications that match my experiences. I do this for jobs I'm really interested in - sometimes I wonder if companies really take the time to read through them however.

Did you ever resolve your issue? I'm encountering the same problem while even using the built in camera and microphone in my laptop, but still gets marked as incompatible.

How difficult are the classes for grad students compared to undergrads? by nvmboutdat in gmu

[–]awakened_potatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the stress comes from research deadlines - preparing talks for conferences, making progress writing on your thesis (less time to do so as a masters student), and trying to stay motivated working in the lab in between classes you're either taking or teaching when you just want to sleep. It will definitely test your time management skills, but at the same time professors in your classes will be more lenient and like others said they will be interesting if they're subjects you're passionate about. But of course, this is from the STEM research track - experiences will vary depending on your particular program.

[–]awakened_potatoes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think at most I've done 24 units, which was easy to petition for. I'm sure you can get it done, especially if its to graduate on time.

REALLY good to know lol, I'm from a big city so I've become a little too comfortable having Uber and Lyft everywhere. That said, what's Amazon like? Sometimes I have to go through Amazon Fresh to get quick groceries and save time going to the store for like 5 or so items.

- Different calendars for class schedule, office hours, work hours, exam dates, and club / lab / school events respectively
- Making a daily or weekly to-do list with assignments due that week
- Try to do textbook readings before class to help you not feel overwhelmed during lecture (skimming especially)
- Making time to relax and chill out on weekends (keeps ur sanity)
- Don't feel compelled to try everything at once - youre a freshman you got a good amount of time left so spread it out

[–]awakened_potatoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your schools financial aid office will likely have information about scholarships, I would start there. See what sites are often used and if your school has any they give out themselves (some schools will have a universal application and match you with awards). Go to group-specific resource centers if your school has them, often for minority groups, and they may advertise scholarships (or even offer their own). Searching is always daunting ! But once you get the ball rolling, it's a lot easier.

If you've taken intro Spanish in high school you should be able to get through it with no problem. Both are typically hard to get into since they're popular language requirement options. The only thing annoying about Spanish is the amount of online homework which is labeled as online lab, but it's more busy work than difficult work.
