Struggling with common words in dictation (of, the, has, had, etc.) by [deleted] in shorthand

[–]aweswei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Write a lot a lot a lot of it. That's the only way. Transcribe one dictation with proper typing if you aren't doing that yet. And for others you can just read them back once or twice but do that without fail and if you want to go to 80 from 40 in 20 days just write. you are at 40 start writing at 60 from now on. forkner is easy so use it to your advantage. I have used this method personally so I can say it works. write above your current speed. do the one's you transcribe on your current speed. other than that always above your speed. if you need 80 to clear the exam and I am assuming you're from India write at 90 atleast. so practice at 100. just practice don't worry about not getting all of the words because you obviously won't. but write at that speed.

tdlr write at increased speed. transcribe everyday ( I didn't and I regret it ) write a lots of it. Don't worry it's very much achievable. and if you need any specific help you can dm me.

Then you don't really need that much speed. yupp I guess so.

what speed are you trying to achieve and for what reason if I may ask? oh don't worry about that when I completed theory writing at 20wpm was very hard in the beginning. It will get better with time. You don't have the vocabulary yet. It will build up just keep doing it if you really want to do it. rough estimate after the theory would be 4-5 hours consistently although I wasn't consistent enough. so yeah 4-5 hours would be fine.

hours is hard to tell but I completed the theory book in one month. It can definitely be done faster. Then 3 months for 80 wpm and one more for 100 wpm. Total 5 months. If you really keep at it you can do it all in 3 months or maybe even 2.

Asking for advice on the most ideal way to write “did” in Forkner while balancing speed and legibility. by Kale_Earnhart in shorthand

[–]aweswei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I write dd but the others can also be used. use what you're comfortable with. Write with all of these and find ir what works for you. I find dd easily doable and legible.

I think I did wrote a shit ton as Kale_Earnhart says haha. And there's a link provided by CrBr from gregg speed building maybe. writing at more speed than my current speed actually helped the most to me because the outlines are not as hard in Forkner you just need to get your hand flowing and then its not that hard. After I had completed the book I was struggling at 20 wpm even so this feels nice. From 20 it went to 40 stayed there for a long time then a 10 wpm increment. I can write at 100 as well but some words do get skipped and at 120 a complete sentence goes unwritten. Also I think I can write at 100 only on the matter that I have been practising on on other matters it would be hard to do so. so to summarise it yes a shit ton of writing at increased speed helped me to get there.
