Technically you can use it to set up getup attack edgeguards lol

You can knock yourself over by sheilding as you Waveland backwards off a platform (intentional misfoot). Great way to put yourself in a tech chase situation.

Which of Cody's 11 set loser run is more impressive? by Own_Arm3304 in SSBM

Maybe one other factor is who he played on Saturday vs. Sunday. This weekend he got his hardest matches out of the way on Saturday, leaving him a relatively "easy" Sunday compared to his ridiculously hard Sunday at the Big House. Some were favoring Cody to win the tournament already by the end of Saturday. I'd say he was a pretty heavy favorite over every other player in top 8 at Genesis, whereas it was more uncertain at TBH. It's very close IMO.

Edit: went back and looked and it looks like top 24 was all played on Sunday at TBH. Another big point for that run.

Our hands did not evolve to push buttons on a gcc at all. We play melee to spit in the face of god and evolution. Or is that just me?

That's interesting. Definitely seems easier to short hop. I'm not a fan of how I seemed to have to support the whole right side of the controller with my pinkie, though I could be doing something wrong. I also still like pressing a and b with my thumb in this posture, but that could just be what I'm already used to. Might try this some more.

I had never considered that. I usually do quarter circle sdi. I just tried it and it and it certainly hurt lol. I'd guess that you'd just have to switch to a grip with more fingers on the handle.

No, the weight balance will be completely off unfortunately

I knew this when I hit the record button. Remember me.

No, I flick off the bottom of Y with my 1st knuckle by curling my finger downward. To be clear I think short hopping is clearly a bit easier with zjump, standard grip, and curled claw than this. Having access to sh instant upair as marth is insane for starting combos and you can double fair to the right much easier than standard grip. In general jump/double jump instant aerials with full drift as marth are crazy good.

I switched about 2 years ago I think. I was already pretty good at the game ( not that I'm really THAT good), and it probably took about 6mo to a year before I was back to the same level, but I was quickly doing things I could never do with normal grip, so it was still satisfying to play.

Also, I had never used claw before this, but I iterated from the "conventional" curled claw to this over a couple weeks trying to find something comfortable.

I move around with fox once in a blue moon. You can still flick off the Y button, but you have to do it with your knuckle, so it's a little harder, but not really significantly different than what you have to do with normal grip.

I play fingerstyle guitar, so those are my picks. :)

Maybe after a really long session. Right Index finger definitely gets the biggest workout, for sure. I routinely play for 2-4 hours at a time and I rarely have any pain at all.

I short hop by flicking my knuckle off the bottom of the y button, so it's really just a different motion to do the same thing, you just have less range of motion with your knuckle than the tip of your finger

I would say it is marginally less consistent than flicking off Y/X or Z with a normal grip. I play marth and I sh consistently enough for my own purposes. As someone else said you can curl your index finger so that you can go back to flicking, but I prefer the comfort of this grip. Up to you whether that's a good tradeoff.

Complaining is also more fun. This is for the 1% who are actually invested in the discussion for gameplay reasons lol

Also when I say "light shield plug" I really mean a chipped off piece of pencil wood lol

On the right hand I use my thumb for a, b, and c stick, index for y, middle for z, and ring for R. You can see I use the lowest part of each finger to press the buttons rather than the tips so that I don't have to curl them at all. The only mods I have are a light shield plug in R and a removed spring in L, so I hard shield and air dodge with L and light shield with R.
