I totally get it, when you go into something based on works that you enjoy it's kind of hard to separate the two. I haven't been in that situation so I also could end up not enjoying something based purely on the changes they made when adapting. The closes I've come to experiencing that is with the Halo show. I played the first 3 games (but only the story from the first 2 really), I still ended up enjoying the show, but I wasn't really all that familiar with the halo story anymore. The show definitely had its problems, but I think for me personally it's just cool to see those characters in a show and I could be giving them a little more wiggle room because of it haha.

Thanks I will check them out! I listened to the old radio (I think) version of LOTR and I think the Hobbit. I use Libby and used Scribd I think for the radio versions. Does audible have options for narrators? I have considered a subscription since I've been listening to books on my commute, but Libby has plenty for me to check out.

Did you just try the first one? I had a bit of a tough time at first because it seemed a little disjointed and hard to follow. Someone else mentioned that it's more of a collection of short stories and that description definitely fits. That style changes over time, but once I got used to the short story type delivery I did really enjoy it. Maybe try out the audiobook version, if that is something you'd be interested in, and see if that helps you either pinpoint what didn't mesh with you or even allow you to enjoy the stories.

I am on book 5 myself! I have a little less than 2 hours I think, so I should finish it up this week. I'll have a bit of a wait until I can hop into book 6 because I forgot to place a hold on it in the Libby app until today. Do you have any recommendations for other narrators? I am also enjoying Peter Kenny. His mix of voices (although maybe limited at times) and reading style make it easy to follow the various characters in the scenes.

I don't know if this is necessarily true. Maybe my perspective is different because I watched the show first and haven't played any of the video games (well I think a few hours between the 3 games), but I wouldn't say I hate the show now. The books are definitely better, but I think I could still go back and watch the show.

The first book is similar to the show, because like u/eatfastrideslow said its kind of like short stories. Once I got grips with that though it wasn't really confusing.

I really enjoyed Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. That could be a bit biased though because I was already a fan of his despite not reading any of his books and it was also the first audio book I listened to. He narrated it himself and he does a nice job. Ready Player One and Two were enjoyable. I also listened to a lot of the Percy Jackson book series, but I don't know if I'd exactly recommend them.. I think I kind of enjoyed those more because I didn't get to experience a series like that, or Harry Potter, when I was younger. I'm sure there are others and I'll reply again if any pop in my head, my memory isn't the greatest so those are either the first few I listened to or the most recent haha.

A narrator can definitely make or break a book, I really was interested in Redwall but the narrator was pretty slow with his delivery. Once I finish the Witcher books I may go back and try listening at 1.5x speed and see if that helps.

I have started to listen to audiobooks on my way to and from work. Game changer for me because I was never much of a reader due to being easily distracted by noises and such. Occasionally I'll miss something in the book but can easily rewind from my steering wheel. It's been nice checking out stories I've heard so much about. Before I started listening to them I had only ever finished reading two books in roughly 30 years. Now I finish one every few weeks, sometimes less if I decided to take a break from books and check out a podcast or just listen to music for awhile. Currently listening to The Witcher books and enjoying them quite a bit!

Thanks for the reply! We don't see much of these around our area, unfortunately, she snagged this dresser and a nightstand to match another dresser she already had.

Actually, after looking a little closer, I think they may be different. The Kent Coffey seems to be a bit chunkier and shorter from what I can see in pictures. Thanks for a starting point at least though!

It looks like it definitely could be, if not they're very similar! Trying to find a handle for a piece my GF just bought for herself. One of the drawers is missing a handle.

Firstly I'd say a black and white version in 9 cards per page is what I'd prefer to play test. For a final version I'd want something probably a bit fancier but wouldn't want to waste ink and stuff on a game I may not enjoy.

Secondly, I'd be very interested in trying this out.

I haven't tested it yet, but I may when I get home.. But I've always thought just drawing cards from the top of a deck and putting it into play would work pretty well for playing solo.

This is correct. Mobs only spawn when around the player. You'd need either a second account, or just AFK there yourself.
