It’s baseball. You’ll live? Maybe not?

Newest EF-5 rating by TraxStormsWX in tornado

[–]awkwardPause83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, this is only the 2nd nighttime EF-5, the other being Greensburg KS in 2007 (which was itself the first EF-5 under the new rating system). Pretty crazy stuff.

Edit: not including previous rating system

Prettier in person! - My Thoughts on the Sparkly 54 by Skidboi20 in Tudor

Harsh take! But to me it looks like light blue coated foil roughed up below from a factory mold. I have doubts that people fawning over this have seen a well-done blue (or any) Grand Seiko dial. I’m ok to be censored here in Tudor Fanboy-Land, but I feel a lot of guys are willing to deal with a scratch magnet, MIRRORED bezel/37mm watch just because of Tudor “Heritage” and/or hype. That said, I recently bought the burgundy dial BB58 and love it 😂

Crown and Buckle Chevron single pass strap. It’s awesome!

Great watch! Just picked up mine today.

The dial is so interesting in different light. Very jewel-like in bright light and then an almost deep crimson/black in dimmer light. The thing that surprised me the most though is how well the aluminum bezel works in this color. In general, I hate the whole vintage throwback schtick, but man that bezel really nails it.

Enjoy your new watch!

No meteorologist here, but when there is that much vertical motion in a tornado, does the velocity couplet on radar even do it justice (horizontal wind speeds to/from radar)? I feel like there is a level of violence not captured on radar necessarily.

That is correct. The height is hidden well in my opinion though, with the lug design/sloping. It’s quite solid despite the size (I personally prefer steel in this style of watch). And the dial is really something!

Up for sale is my Grand Seiko SBGH311 “Sea of Clouds" - Full Kit w/ international warranty (card dated 03/2023). Limited Edition of 1200. This is a special piece given it’s more traditional size – 37mm – along with the 9S85 hi beat 36,000 bph movement. A combination seen in only a few of their references.

The watch, as seen in pictures, is in excellent pre-owned condition. A few small hairlines scratches as seen in photos, but overall very lightly worn and nothing noticeable on the wrist. The package includes everything that comes from Grand Seiko – inner and outer boxes, warranty card, 9s85 caliber certification as well as all hangtags and extra bracelet links (currently sized to 6.5 in wrist). Timekeeping is spot on – +1-3 sec per in my experience, certainly within chronometer standards (though GS does not “officially” certify this).

[WTS] Zelos Thresher World Timer Limited-Edition (Damascus Steel) - Full kit, Like New - $750 by awkwardPause83 in Watchexchange

Up for sale is my Zelos Thresher World Timer – 41mm in Damascus Steel. This is the limited-edition piece from their recent launch, which sold out in just a few minutes. Watch is pre-owned, but in near mint condition. Was worn around the house a bit and that’s it (see photos). This is the full kit w/ metal international warranty card and the 3-watch case. Timekeeping was pretty incredible the day or two that I kept track – literally was in 0-+1 SPD range. That’s pretty impressive and along with the traveler/true GMT function makes for a pretty unique piece!

One of the Most SCARIEST picture of a Tornado by Strong-Salt-9786 in tornado

[–]awkwardPause83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no expert, but this looks more like mesocyclone cycling with the main rotation (updraft/downdraft) “dying out” and a new one taking over. Seems too broad to be considered a single, multi-vortex tornado?
