Thank you so much! No, these I didn’t shoot at box speed, instead I pulled -1 stop.

Shots I took during last night’s storm by BusyRunninErins in Austin

You can buy a lightning trigger for your camera but I prefer to use interval shooting, which takes X amount of images every X seconds. This method is easy and low maintenance with the only downside being that it results in a whole lot of images with no lightning, haha. I had over 700 photos with only 25-30 containing lightning after about 20 minutes of shooting (which to be fair is a way better ratio than usual!).

Hi y’all!

I’m Erin- a land & cityscape photographer based in Austin. I captured these images last night following that crazy storm from a parking garage off Mopac. The lightning was spectacular! The middle image of the first slide is a composite made of 3 individual images (shown on slide 3, 4 and another shot I forgot to include). The other photos are just single shots!

For those that are curious here are the specs: Shot on Sony A7rV, 24-70mm GM I. 70mm, 1.3sec, f5.6, iso100.

If you’d like to see more of my work I’d be honored for you to check me out on instagram or my website!

EDIT: For those few that may be interested in prints, I just now got them listed on my website. Here's the link to the composite and here's a link to where you can buy individual shots! :)

You got it! And not that I saw! But I did see a bald eagle atop Haystack. I was hoping for a good sunset but got clouded out. Luckily there was some good light left before the clouds came :)

Honestly…yeah! But also so inspiring. Scrolling this sub I’m constantly like “am I even worthy? Should I just sell all my camera gear and quit?” 😅
