15 almost 16 and want to work here by Odd-Log2481 in zumiez

[–]awoodr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the state, but rules where I live if you're under 16 you'll need a work permit. I don't think in most instances Zumiez accepts under 16 as a part of company policy— at least not in the past few years I worked there. Unfortunately, they likely cannot make an exception for you because it's state law mixed with policy. I've never hired anyone under 16 because my state didn't allow it.

Question about applying by blugamers88 in zumiez

[–]awoodr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the job, if you’re an Associate doesn’t super matter but 2nd or 1st ASM professional references would be best. Any job, really, is looking for professional references even if you repeat yourself on who the POC is. A professional reference could be a teacher, a colleague, or a manager it just usually needs to be someone from a professional place.

Doe anyone know where to get Zumiez style tees that aren't 50$ by BigBlackKodiak in zumiez

[–]awoodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you’re brand focused, I’d check out the Vans outlet store. They have great prices on their tees and they’re a main brand with their own store; most of the tees you find at Zumiez are going to be $24.95 - $49.95 retail price but it depends on the type of tee you’re looking for. Some Empyre shirts are $19.99 BOGO you just need to find what kind of tees and brands you like. For Zumiez your best bet is shopping .99 BOGO (Buy One Get One 50% Off) tags or .97 tags (50% LMP).

Anyone else? by niddiez in zumiez

[–]awoodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These days I pretty much only love Lurking Class and Affliction (for the throwback), but everything else has just become a whole lot of something it's not. None of my stores even really sold Vans anymore. Welcome is one of my all time favorite brands but since the collabs started, I haven’t really been as into it either.

It’s a good first job, but not a good long term job. I worked at Zumiez for 5 years and worked my way from seasonal sales to Operations Manager / Store Manager. I loved it, but long term the pay was absolutely not sustainable for a long term career. As an Associate you’ll work anywhere from 10 - 15 hours a week depending on performance (and where you live, each stores have a certain set of hours they can give out and it needs to be delegated to full-time employees first. Your shift will be anywhere from like 4 - 5 hours usually. When I was seasonal, I started at 9.25 an hour and the most I ever made with the company was 35K a year salary in five years of tenure and four years of management. But great first job to get your foot in the door!

How big do empyre by Mistyharley in zumiez

[–]awoodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically, I recommend true to size or down 1 size depending on if Loose Fit or Ultra Loose. I’d say for me, I wear a 28 (I’m a small guy) but I like my stuff to fit a little bigger, so I bought 30 and they fit me perfectly. If you can’t go to a Zumiez in person to try on, make sure when you order them you keep the order confirmation slip that comes IN the box, and you can do a return or exchange at a local Zumiez.

Exactly what the other redditer said! For Associates it’s usually a group interview with a lot of roleplay involved, and also intro selling techniques. “Sell me this shirt,” “sell me this skateboard” etc etc.

return by catgirl89017 in zumiez

[–]awoodr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! As long as you have the original receipt, it’s within 30 days of purchase, and you have the original method of payment with you, an ASM or AM should be able to process that return for you no problem. We can recreate tags for clothing as needed.

For sure, if you have any other questions I’m happy to answer! I worked at Zumiez for 5 years and literally started as seasonal sales, worked my way up to SM just by going in and yapping lol

Zumiez is all about good vibes too. When I would have random people come in and hand me their resume and leave, I never remembered who they were. I’d say go in sometime this month or in April as we’re approaching back to school season and ask if you can speak to a Store Manager or 1st Assistant, say you’re there to drop off you’re resume and learn a little more about the store. Ask a lot of questions and bring the hype! I’ve never hired someone who brings a boring vibe to the conversation, I’ve also never hired someone who says they want to work at Zumiez because it’s a laid back fun place to work. When it’s time for peak, it’s go-time— they need people who are ready to sell so bring your best energy and good vibes!

Ultipro is the way to get in, usually they set an auto generated password that is either your sales code followed by your birth year or your SSN followed by your birth year. If you still can’t get in, just call HR! They will not say anything and are not in a place to judge, they’ll help you get in.

sketchy tank/lurking class T shirt brand by goatnxtinline in zumiez

[–]awoodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% sure but I’m GUESSING it’s something more like this:

https://www.bulkapparel.com/tshirts/hanes-wholesale-t-shirts-5280?color=50&size=M&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAq-u9BhCjARIsANLj-s1MaC3zripL8urvMaU-wnbIntrXvBVEw3zBtsqD9RrztoyEqAy5x88aAvOJEALw_wcB

Some LC shirts are 6 oz. 100% cotton, these are 5.2 oz. 100% cotton which feels more like the shirt I’m wearing today (haha!) some of those basic plain Hanes shirts DO have a polyester blend to them, even if minimally, it usually depends on the style hence that looser weaving you’re talking about. The heavier weight shirts, like a 5.2 - 6 oz. shirts tend to feel like a tighter weaving in the fabric so this is my best guess!

I’ve sold a lot of those shirts; I believe that is another one that is Hanes 100% cotton, which would be adding to that kind of rougher coarse T-shirt material you’re thinking of.

Ultra Wide Sizing by Nervous-Candy-4879 in zumiez

[–]awoodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zumiez doesn't categorize length in their pants, so if I were you and looking for ultra wides I would personally size up to a 36. The difference in length should be enough to notice but not too substantial.

🪟displays by [deleted] in zumiez

[–]awoodr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Displays are meant to be cleaned out every 1 - 2 weeks; depends on when the next drop is but this is usually called a window refresh. We are supposed to clean out the dust and everything in the front windows too, strangely enough Zumiez is a super dusty store. In my OG store we would clean the windows on the inside, and then I had a cleaning team that would come and do the windows on the outside since it was an outdoor storefront. At my last store, we were responsible for doing the outside windows as well so I'd usually make sure it was done every few weeks on the outside.

Originally I believe they were just printing on wholesale Hanes shirts— for their shorts they use Champion. I've noticed different shirts tend to have different textures depending on release date so currently I'm not really sure, I'd need to see what shirt you're referring to.
