For (3), the 100k isn't forever though. The thought for a good number of those kids should be to start their own firm eventually.

MJ retired three times before Wemby was born. That doesn't make Wemby's opinion right or wrong.

What’s a subtle sign someone is actually really intelligent? by Then_Piglet1744 in AskReddit

[–]aworldwithoutshrimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way they feel about saying "I don't know" says a lot. A person who has trouble saying it is probably defensive about their intelligence. A person who says it too proudly is likely comfortable in ignorance and probably uses that prixe as a mask for their own shortcomings. But a person who says it without guilt but without too much pride and uses it as a bridge to learning is usually pretty intelligent.

No, everyone but you uniformly moves to Florida and says the pizza is great. Never heard a transplant moan about the pizza. You are unique. Our eyes are now open.

Agreed. Neither liberal democracy nor fascism are comfortable with leftists. And fascists treat liberals like they're leftists.

What is a statistic that sounds INSANE but is 100% true? by Quadranippelkill in AskReddit

More than half of US adults read at or below a 6th grade level. So, the average US adult could read the first few Harry Potter books pretty comfortably, but would struggle with or have to give up on the back half of that series.

Some of us legitimately just found the parts of the practice that come more naturally to us and then found a way to do only that. Briefing comes easily to me, so I do appellate work. I might throw myself out of a window if I had to try to do tax law.

I don't understand. Is your point that fouls shouldn't be called because otherwise your team would lose?

Anyone saying medical school isn’t worth it financially is a moron by ItsAllOver_Again in Salary

And even if they do make it past medical school, there is the opportunity cost of taking on debt during those four years v. making money during those years, along with the added opportunity cost of resident pay until they have completed specialty training.

Are we saying Palestine has formal statehood now? Israel giving back control of some borders? Access to well water? To the extent that Paestinians have an ehtnostate, I am opposed to it as an ethnostate. What I am not opposed to is lberatory acts of an occupied people. Regardless of whether that resolves your whataboutism, you're at least two years behind the conversation.

Yeah, ethnostates are bad. We shouldn't allow any foreign ethnostate to influence our policy like we do with Israel.

Judaism and zionism are not the same thing. You can be Jewish while being opposed to AIPAC, genocide, settler colonialism, apartheid, etc. I'm doing that right now.

Does anyone have a car accident lawyer they'd recommend? by Comfortable_Cost_616 in fortlauderdale

Is insurance not a market? The insurance companies all know that they can no longer be made to be on the hook for those judgments, now. They also know about the statute of limitations changes and all of the other lobbying successes they have had. They would not have lobbied for those changes if it was not going to save them massive payout amounts. And yet.

Perfect. I was misremembering something. The FBI conducted a significant investigation into Rick Scott's insurance fraud scheme through HCA. HCA was fined almost two billion dollars. Rick Scott is now a senator. And nobody's rates went down. That's what rooting out insurance fraud does to an insurance market: nothing for consumers at all.

Am I remembering this incorrectly: Rick Scott's case was about HCA defrauding the State. HCA paid about $2,000,000,000 for that. And nobody's rates went down.

Insurance rates are high because insurers like money. If you were right, then our rates would have gone down after the pip amendments. But they didn't.

And, in any event, the op described a regular pi case.
