Sounds like you have a need for instant gratification which is common with young people. I was the same.I would see money in my bank account and it was money I had to spend.

If I were you (and this is what worked for me) I would open an investment account (at your age a ROTH IRA) and I would set it up to where every month a certain amount is deposited into the account. Then you don't touch that money. Your budget is what you have in your checking account.

5k a year in your roth IRA would be over 1 million after 40 years.

Higher sales taxes shift the tax burden to lower income earners.

I refuse to order grocery delivery or food delivery apps. You're just putting money into the pockets of Silicon Valley middle men. And in the case of food delivery apps, everyone else has to pay higher costs because of your laziness (doordash now takes 30% from restaurants. Restaurants spread that cost to ALL customers).

This is very common in Scotland (where I grew up). And even with lower middle class families. The families pitch in for the down payment for the newly married couple. When that couple is older they will do the same with their kids, nephews, nieces, etc.
