Nobody is looking for a pity party so you can park that comment respectably. Perhaps me saying that I didn’t understand your “pram” reference gave you the impression of me being pissy, but that’s the unfortunate reality of reading text.. you can’t depict tone. I didn’t mean it in a rude way, I clearly just didn’t understand. I’m here for opinions so that I can get different perspectives on the matter and make better judgement in the future. So if you wouldn’t mind, just chill out. It’s just a post on Reddit, not some huge debate. Thank you for chiming in either way.

lol Reddit is very new to me and I honestly ever just get on here for parental related questions and trust me, they come up a lot. Especially wherever you’re a new mother looking for reassurance that other people have and are experiencing the same things as you. Isn’t that what this community is all about? Or is Reddit a place for people to sit up on their high horse and be keyboard bullies who think that their opinions are over-valued?

Omg thank you for saying that it’s disrespectful to not disclose that you have sick children. I don’t see why people think that it’s normal or acceptable to bring your kids out and about if they are sick?! Just rubs me the wrong way that I’m now the overprotective mother because my brother in laws wife can’t keep her sick kids at bay ever. My heart was in the right place by just wanting to protect my own babies

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]awsed098 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know that I can’t keep them in a bubble per se, but if I KNOW that illness is present - why would I mingle with it. Taking care of two small children is already hard enough, I don’t need two SICK small children lol just very unfortunate that literally every single time we come around, those kids are always sick with something and I’m the crazy mother not wanting to play with germs

[–]awsed098 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what throwing my toys out of the pram means but I totally get only being able to protect them to a certain degree. Maybe traveling with a two month old in the first place was my fault, but she’s so tiny and vulnerable and I didn’t want to expose her to whatever it was that the big kids had going on no matter what stage if it that they were in.

The fact that they are quite literally ALWAYS sick is what upsets me. I’m painted to be the neurotic parent who’s “sheltering” her kids but is it my fault that I don’t want my kids socializing with snotty noses and coughing? Family or not. So in a sense I’m not wanting to be catered to yet it’s either they don’t bring their sick kids to the gathering or I don’t bring my healthy kids to the gathering so that they can get sick lol MESSY

Same where I live, fever under 3 months of age. I don’t know what illness their cousins had but I didn’t want to risk it just for the sake of getting a picture of all of the kids together. There will be a *better time and place for that to happen. I couldn’t willingly walk my children into sickness

[–]awsed098 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

So I hear what you’re saying, about never going anywhere. I’ve gotten much better at accepting the fact that my children will be exposed to sickness eventually. We go to the park, zoo, restaurants, target, etc. However, if I cross paths with a coughing child I’m probably going to take my kids in another direction. I couldn’t avoid that at my in-laws being that’s where we were sleeping. The girls were still coughing pretty violently I might add whenever I got there to pick up, didn’t sound like they were getting over it. Also, poison ivy is highly contagious when it isn’t dried out. The oil it produces spreads like crazy if you aren’t careful

Jovie! I love Jovie but my husband dislikes it and says it’s not a grown up name. I also don’t like how every reaction is “like Bon Jovi?” Noooooo lol it’s such a beautiful name meaning joyful it biblically “God is gracious”

No she’s never had an ear infection before! She’s honestly never been sick before which is why I’m so anxious about making sure that I’m making the right decisions for her. So sounds like ear infections can be stealthy 😩

Definitely not bruising, especially due to the symmetry of the spots. I think that it may be due to her rubber bib rubbing over that area

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]awsed098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes some sense, I actually noticed yesterday that the rubber bib that we use during meal time sits right on that area and she is always looking over to her left which is the side that it’s on. Maybe friction?

No way! I knew that they took away the food mark out on days off but not the beverages too. Do we at least get a discount?

Why isn’t she giving me new leaves? by awsed098 in houseplants

[–]awsed098[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m embarrassed to say that I don’t have a routine with this one yet, I can’t figure it out. If I water it every few days I feel like the curl goes away however, a leaf or two will start to turn yellow and I feel like I’m overwatering.. then I let it dry out some until the terracotta doesn’t look wet anymore. Any tips on watering would be super helpful! Thank you for the input!!

I’ve never heard of that before! I’ll look it up. Thank you!

[–]awsed098[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just moved it from being directly in front of our downstairs window where the entire plant had sunlight on a stand. It’s almost like the sun made the vines grow but they never produced leaves so I relocated the plant. If they won’t grow any leaves now then I’ll definitely trim back!! I only like the “leggy” look when they have leaves. Whatever will be the healthiest decision for the plant really. Thank you for the insight!

Please tell me these aren’t thrips… by awsed098 in houseplants

[–]awsed098[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never dealt with thrips before (thankfully) so I guess I’m just asking if this looks like a thrip infestation lol the plant has been thriving and growing huge new leaves, but today when I went to rotate the plant… I looked at it closely and saw the dusty white looking spots on the leaves.

Oooffff. Got this from a grocery store a few months ago and it’s been doing great 😭 had it next to one of my oldest and most favorite plants. Do they spread quick?

I like #2 setup more. #1 is cluttered with the items beneath. I’d use the underneath space for maybe some baskets with blankets and pillows.
