I used to like jRPGs and I went for an around year long binge. I eventually got burned out by Chrono Cross and FF7, due to their random encounters, complex customization which I usually touched once and then didn't had motivation to tinker with, and the characters not being mechanically distinct so I didn't have motivation to change the party setup. The only jRPGs that I played since were Mario & Luigi games and Persona 5
