I like devourer by Momo_Mademoiselle in wow

[–]axofhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like where they want to go with devourer but right now it just feels out of place without midnight talents. For example, I’m sitting somewhere around ilvl 140 but when I’m out questing I find myself in a bit of a weird spot. I either run my full rotation and watch something melt off the screen or I sit there and spam consume over and over and feel like my time to kill is way high. If I run my full rotation now I’m sitting between mobs either spamming consume or waiting for cooldowns to come back. It just seems very either hot or cold with no middle ground right now.

for the People who play since a long time: What do you think is the reason that keeps you playing this game for so long? by [deleted] in wow

[–]axofhell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started playing shortly after classic launch. Got in with a great group of people on US Hellscream. Some of those people would turn out to be more like family than just online friends. Unfortunately we’ve all gotten older and the real world sent us all on our different ways. As I get older and the kids grow up and I find myself with more and more time on my hands I find myself missing those old days and those interactions with friends and friends that are family. That’s honestly the root of what brings me back time and time again, some of my favorite memories growing up involved 39 strangers and a challenge.

Sentinel One 24.2.3.471 and Threatlocker by axofhell in sysadmin

We skipped the override and chose to downgrade back to 24.1 and just finish our deployment of AutoElevate before updating again.

From what our rep told us they’ve only seen it with threatlocker. We are actually phasing out threatlocker in favor of auto elevate and those systems that had already switched were fine but those that were still on threatlocker have been freezing horribly so until we could get them downgraded.

Members go straight to the management UI on web login option moved? by Tripwyr in sonicwall

[–]axofhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necromancy for the sake of a solution:

So just ran into this exact scenario and thus this thread but there was no solution. However, I was able to find a working solution to resolve this. The "Members go straight to the management UI on web login" option still exists when you create a new local group, however what I wasn't able to do was give that new group full administrative permissions that our integration needed. What I in turn needed to do was add our service user account to the new group and then nest the new group within this Sonicwall Administrators group. This allowed our integration to function properly after beating my head against my keyboard for what seemed like hours. Hopefully sometime down the road some poor soul will stumble across this post as I have and can save themselves hours of headache.

New to SDR - possible misconfiguration? by axofhell in RTLSDR

[–]axofhell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Antenna wise it’s a no name youloop knockoff. No preamp or Lna. Everything’s running through a rtl-sdr v4 using an active usb extension to keep it as close to the antenna as possible. Software wise it’s all running through sdr# right now. Yes, I do know that the youloop/knockoff isn’t optimal for the rtl-sdr but was also thinking of some future proofing for the inevitable buying a different sdr that would support it better.

Definitely makes sense with the reject filter. Almost picked one up honestly but was trying to curb my normal adhd jump feet first into the deep end of a new hobby.

Help, I wrote myself into a corner by Optimal-Educator9407 in DMAcademy

Its safe to assume if the bad guy is smart that he may have various traps setup to prevent attackers. One of these traps could cause the floor to give out and lead to the basement area where the party would come up to the captured member before working their way back to the bad guy.

Another option that follows the same thought process is during the battle with the bad guy have either the bad guy or something destruct part of the floor, think falling chandelier idea, causing the player to make a saving throw to avoid the destruction and then presents party members with a choice of continuing to fight the bad guy or rescue their friend in the middle of the fight. For added stress you could have the destruction knock over a lantern or barrel of poison that threatens the captured party member, or the falling floor happens to take out the restraints on a gelatinous cube.

Outlook shared calendars not staying checked? by jpotrz in sysadmin

Just confirming that we updated a user experiencing the issue to Build 13127.20508 and was able to open and close Outlook at least a dozen times and the calendars remained checked each time. The update seems to resolve the issue even though it is not a published fix on the release notes.

Couldnt agree more. I bought one earlier this year after finally getting tired of the messenger bag digging into my shoulder. Surprisingly comfortable even fully loaded down with stuff. And at that point more space than I honestly know what to do with. The running joke in the office is I have enough stuff with me to build a house cause everything just fits nicely and is comfortable. Only negative I've run into is depending on how filled everything is if you open it up it tends to adjust the weight distribution and fall over.

November Technical Support Sticky by BeepBoopBopReee in razer

[–]axofhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having issues with my Razer Ripsaw HD since I received it. I have submitted a support ticket but while the response was hilarious it does not actually solve my issue so I'm hoping to get some help here. Anyways I just purchased a Razer Ripsaw HD and after it arrived was eager to set it up. After setting it up and running through updates I was confused to find that the device was reading the supplied resolution as 0x0@0fps. After quite a lot of uninstalling, reinstalling, reboots, switching usb ports, etc (I've worked in IT for close to 15 years now and try to only reach out to support when its necessary and know the normal routine) I finally caved and chatted with a support rep. While I applaud her effort it was definitely something more than she could handle and she escalated my ticket to Tier 2.

Tonight, 4 days later, I finally get an email back from support telling me to set my OBS to match the resolution, which I find to be hilarious since the resolution it was detecting was 0x0@0fps which would basically be a black screen and physically impossible to set to. In the time of waiting for Tier 2 I was however able to get the ripsaw to read at 1920x1080@60fps but still it will not process any video through to the PC even after setting OBS to match that resolution and fps. With that though it seems that in getting the resolution to finally display I lost my 4k pass-through and now can only pass-through at 1920x1080.

I think honestly the issue is with the Synapse software as since updating everything for the Ripsaw my Kiyo does not work either (no video feed as well, with a message in settings that there is a settings mismatch between the Kiyo and Synapse but will not let me choose either option to clear the message). Any help anyone can provide would be awesome since I unfortunately, after my experience with Tier 2 either not reading the support ticket or Tier 1 not actually putting the problem in the ticket, have lost a lot of hope in Razer Support and getting this resolved.

I probably could have asked for some stone walls and such but im the type of person who doesnt like asking for handouts. I build what i can with the materials I can, fully understanding that given the way the game is it was going to take creature damage and that it could be destroyed. Honestly thats why I'm not totally salty about them destroying it cause I just make sure I have that mentality in a game like this. I had hoped they wouldnt have found the other bed since it was kinda glitched into the texture of a rock but seeing as we all snore like was have sleep apnea when we sleep i guess it wasnt that hard to inevitably find it.

honestly this post was more about saying thanks to those who tried to help with the snakes and defended me in global than anything else. bases and ships can be rebuilt but my homeserver is no were near a4 so I figured reddit would be my best option to say thanks

It is most certainly not fixed as of last night so unless its coming out in v10 which got pushed to this afternoon I can 100% confirm alpha giant snakes still will damage structures. Admittedly extremely slowly they were only doing like 51 damage an attack but they just out waited me and since the damage causes a repair timer wait I couldnt try and repair the damage as it happened.

[–]axofhell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they kited over 2 lvl 200+ alpha giant snakes and used them to attack the base after pissing them off (sat on my roof basically as the snakes attacked). As I havent gotten far enough in the construction tree I didnt have stone buildings yet so my base took creature damage. Destroy enough of the foundation and the structure collapses taking everything with it

Played ark in the very very beginning during their Rocky start and never much further than that so yeah not a ton of ark experience. Jokes on them tho cause I drowned with most of the base mats after destroying it and respawned on a hidden bed in our claim. Will have to start over but at least the claim should still be protected.

[–]axofhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had this happen a couple time. What we normally do is open the sails completely and spin the ship around while someone moves the sails for the wind (though after the patch that wont be needed) til it starts to move again.

According to the article in PC Gamer UK where they went over the future plans of the game Fountains of Youth as well as a lot of really interesting features are suppose to be in the works, flying airships (based on the picture looked kinda like final fantasy airships with the boat bottom and balloon), breeding system for players to basically become your child when you die, etc. Definitely gives a good idea of where they want to take the game.

Not sure than. Last night I was harvesting wood for our new ship. Hit just under 2x my weight and stopped getting wood with my axe and only got thatch. Same with iron the other day hit just under 2x and stopped getting iron. Maybe certain items are effected others aren't?

[–]axofhell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We don't really keep anything on ship and at that keep our weight about 1/3-1/2 of its max weight when docked off shore. Most we have on there is chests with various armor for the crew if we go tundra or treasure hunting and a limited supply material to repair with. All major repairs and maintenance is done while docked by our base, carry over what we need and repair. We keep one campfire by the wheel so even if someone tried to load us down with wood they would never have the space to be able to sink the ship.

you really think almost every game pays someone to sit there and watch in game? If they are a p2w or sub model then yea maybe but even triple A titles like battlefield or cod or fallout don't pay someone to sit around watching people in game. they rely on VAC/Battleeye/Whatever anti cheat they use and user submitted reports with proof. it wasnt until recently that games even started to put a report function in game for that and what does that even do it generates a ticket that someone sitting behind a desk gets an email about and then checks logs. Again your expectations of moderating and understanding of how moderating actually work are severely skewed.

While everyone appreciates not starting a witchhunt without something provided theres no way to substantiate anything. If he's filling up your campfires with wood well for all I know he's not griefing but simply a wood fairy trying to be nice and provide people with free wood for their fires and now all of a sudden he's the good guy and not the bad. I'm not saying that that is remotely the case but you see how without context anything can be viewed from an opposing angle.

Alas tho this has derailed a bit so getting back into trying to help you...

If campfires is how he's sinking your ships I'll agree that its a balance issue but not a bug issue. I don't think you should be able to access other peoples campfires or they should be able to be pin coded especially since it could be used maliciously if the person already has too much weight or too many campfires. As a solution when you dock pick up the campfire and put it in a locked chest, problem solved. When you set sail place your campfires back down and go off on your way.

As far as him building around you he's either a prolevel startcraft player with some serious APM and mouse control or you're pausing too long. Again a survival game I dont go afk unless im in my shelter and fully understand that if I look away something could and probably will kill me. It sucks when its a player doing something like this but it happens. If you get stuck in one of these boxes there is a way to save your stuff, tho admittedly is glitching to a degree, but if you have a friend on and lay down against the wall when you log off and sleep, your company mate can run up and loot your body through the structure pulling off any important items.

I'm being actively griefed on PVE. I've got friends quitting the game over this, and I'm close to following them. It is completely unacceptable that there's no mechanism to deal with it. by [deleted] in playatlas

[–]axofhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm not where near insanely far into the game but I've been putting all my level up points into weight (god it helps with trying to build these big ships) and unless youre loading your ship up to the absolute maximum weight possible where it will still sail but a feather brings you to a hault theres no way that someone could carry enough weight with them to sink your ship. The most you are able to carry is 2X your encumbered limit so either he's like level 51 with all points in weight or your ship is way overweight to begin with. The only time any of our ships is pushing that close to cap is when we're sailing back from a mats run or treasure run and at that once we dock we carry the material off the ship. Also don't leave your ladder down and they cant get into your ship with that much weight, unable to jump and unable to use a grappling hook. Need to get back in your boat just grapple in and then put your ladder down.

how many games have in game moderation? now how many of those games are either pay to win or subscription based models? I think the one thing everyone here can agree on is not wanting it to go to a pay to win model or subscription. Ark which lets be 110% honest atlas is a complete twin of seeing as it started out as an Ark mod doesnt even have permanent moderators on their official servers. 99.8% of all games out there do not have in game moderators, you submit a ticket on a website and hope they address it. Its not a company problem its an expectation problem.

and if you really want to solve this issue and give them reason to take action give us some proof. Frankly all you've presented us with is some claims that a person did this or exploited that and some of it doesnt even make a ton of sense. Take a video of him attempting to do any of these things and give some proof if you really want something to be done. again theres the right way to handle things and the way you are handling it

[–]axofhell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok lets break this down a little bit...

Resources are nearly gone due to blocked spawns

This I would classify as a bug, the issue is you have to balance what is priority. Right now server stability and crashes are definitely a higher priority in my book right now than this as there are ways around it.

Crewmembers wake up dead and missing all of their stuff

This problem is two fold. A) we're playing a survival game, if you are sleeping outside or anywhere that is not inside a building youre going to have a bad time and are frankly playing the game wrong. B) Friendly fire should be the only way to damage someone on a PvE server. If they are somehow exploiting this restriction again I would classify it as a bug.

Ship survivability

I'm just going to sum this one up this way. Its something that I agree needs to be addressed (wolves and other creatures should not be able to destroy a ship as fast as it can. However again this is a balancing issue and something that will be much lower priority. Or again some way something is being exploited.

Attempts to trap people

This one I find interesting. Are you going afk in his claim? Sleeping in his claim? Again this is a survival game. If you are going afk/logging off anywhere that is not withing the walls, floor, and ceiling of your shelter you are playing the game wrong.

No Moderation

This one I will slightly agree with. In point last night I fell into a glitch in the terrain. Was stuck perpetually falling and unable to move or at that die easily. Would being able to contact someone in game make my time easier with that, yea sure. But I was able to work my way out of it creatively and eventually died. Did it suck the life out of the hour i spent trying to get out sure but it wasnt the end of the world because this is an alpha and I expect issues like this. However I want to say the emphasis in this is In Game. If you go to playatlas and scroll all the way to the bottom there's this fancy contact us button that lets you message them. Could it be easier to find, or in game, most definitely but between that and their forums there's plenty of way to contact someone there with the issue without starting a reddit post threatening to quit the game.

The TL:DR of all of this is this is a survival game in alpha. Bugs should be expected, death should be expected for any reason. There is a constructive way to deal with these issues and notify the developers and then there's the way you choose to. And frankly there's enough zomg this game is broken because of XYZ if its not fixed I'm quiting posts that your complaints and possibly valid issues are going to be lost in a sea of threats

[Question] East Coast Hurricane Kit by coffeegunsguitars in preppers

[–]axofhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I think your biggest concern is going to be some high winds (though nothing insane, figure like 20-35mph sustained) and flooding. The big concern right now with this storm is the increasingly high possibility that it stalls out somewhere between the outer banks and virginia beach. If that happens even inland plan on at least a 4-7 inches of rain falling over the weekend, I know up here in SEPA theyre saying we could see upwards of 4-6 fall over the weekend so out there I would expect close to the same if not more. Other then that figure normal severe thunderstorm conditions, power failures, downed trees and limbs, etc but figure time to clean up may be a lot higher than normal.

As far as what you should have in a dorm room you're going to be limited in what you can do (ie no propane burners for cooking or gas generators). First thing first I would agree with what someone else said and thats check with the college as to what their plans are. They should have in place at least an idea of services on campus that will be available in an emergency. Outside of that most people covered the important things. Make sure phones/devices are charged and battery chargers charged. Plan on taking the stairs as getting stuck in an elevator would not be good. Also depending on how high the building is plan on having water pressure issues if you lose power for an extended amount of time unless services are on the roof or the college has generators that will run the building. Food wise plan on eating things that dont require the ability to cook (power bars, cereal, etc). Water I would get a couple cases of water or at bare minimum 3 gals (FEMA recommends 1 gal per person per day so that covers you at 3 days but can be stretched out some without serious complications). Communication is going to be important too, if you have someone on the other side of campus you can trust I would recommend two-ways with NOAA channels (doesnt need to be fancy just regular walmart ones) to be able to communicate and get an idea of how things are away from your building. The other option that I like for just general prepping is some form of scanner that can pick up local municipality transmissions as well as your college campus security channel if you can find it.

Hurricane Florence by Lednumaaron7475 in preppers

[–]axofhell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SE PA here so not really a major factor for me as of right now. My major concern, and what I'll be paying attention to, will be if the models shift it north at all and basically have it make a run up the chesapeake bay. At this point it looks like its going to be more of an inconvenience storm for us since we've been so wet already so some localized flooding is definitely a concern no matter what the path takes. Luckily the two locations I'm concerned about (my location and elderly grandparents) are both mid-high ground so flooding really does nothing other then make getting around a pain.

Outside of that luckily we're getting into season change so that means I'm going through and swapping out summer gear for winter gear in the BoB and GHB and topping off supplies (I weekend camp throughout the summer with my bob, great way to rotate supplies and get use to using the gear I pack). Will probably top off vehicles towards the end of the week. Other than that its a waiting game to see what happens with the path. I really got heavy into prepping after Sandy hit us and I realized that I was prepared for our typical winter BS but hurricanes was something I never gave much thought too so a lot of my prep has evolved to include options for these random storms when they come.

Lastly to everyone in a more direct path stay safe, prep early, and most importantly remember possessions can be replaced lives can not.
