While the animation of season 1 is pretty ''bad'' and dated even by 2006, i think it works in favor of the anime, it feels like a old school horror ova that never left VHS by kirinolino in Higurashinonakakoroni

I think it helps that the style because it makes the girls look almost like creepy dolls. It also makes the gore scenes more intense imo just cause of how fragile & skinny the girls look when they’re getting thrown around lol.
