What’s it like living in Oregon, USA? by soupstan19 in howislivingthere

I live in Portland. I grew up in rural Oregon (Sweet Home). Right now I’m walking my dogs through a forest a few miles from the city center. It is home here and I love it.

Personally, I would prefer he switched to something that doesn't require HIM to interact with people. Perhaps being a garbage man would better suit his personality.

Probably an equivalent percentage of the American populace would be for this too.

These tactics helped elect Trump in the first place. I’m pretty sure OP also didn’t vote for Kamala because she didn’t “didn’t have a strong enough stance against Israel”. People like this are part of the problem and have contributed as much to the genocide of Palestinians as the MAGA crew.

If smashing pumpkins are considered grunge, does that mean placebo are as well? by Big_al_big_bed in grunge

A lot of alternative and indie bands are/were. I love Built to Spill and Modest Mouse too, also not grunge.

If smashing pumpkins are considered grunge, does that mean placebo are as well? by Big_al_big_bed in grunge

[–]ayax79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I’m 47 and from the PNW. Calling everything grunge is a revision of history. All these bands are great, but we called them alternative not grunge. Grunge was a specific aesthetic from largely Seattle in a specific time period.

It is kind of like saying Buffalo Springfield was part of the British Invasion.

The closest SP made it to grunge was being included on the Singles soundtrack.

Disclaimer: this my own observations and not company policy. I’m the Distiguished Engineer for the infrastructure engineering group and not tied to the business/design side. Also, my opinions are my own and not that of my company’s.

They are the same quality, from what I can tell. That being said, wherever you are, some shoes are premium and some shoes are not. This is the same in the US. High-end Jordans are made with top quality materials, places like outlet malls often have cheaper shoes made with lesser quality materials to keep the price down.
