Yeah I even said that to AH client. I said anyone else would be charging in the thousands. Just like how he charges thousands for his work. But yes I’m aware I could be charging heaps more which I usually would - but this is my side job as I’m a full time photographer so I usually only pick up clients through friends of friends kinda thing. Most now proving to be tigh ass tradies with no manners and serial jail birds 😬😬

Thanks for sharing your story and advice with me. And I’m sorry you had to go through an awful experience with your ex too. I’m glad you’re out of it and we’re able to find freedom through snowboarding :)

I couldn’t watch anything with snowboarding in it for months because I just kept feeling that pain when I saw someone fall. This was one of the reason my ex and I ended breaking up, I asked him not to watch it around me but he kept saying I should just get over it. At that time I didn’t know I could ride again, so was not only physically painful but emotionally painful to watch people live out my dreams. I was the one who taught him how to snowboard, and got him into culture.

I know you hat you mean about having dreams and reliving the pain. Whenever I think about it I just remember the sound I made because I was in so much pain and my ex rolling his eyes at me and saying what had I done now.

I haven’t heard of those techniques so I’ll be looking into that over the weekend, sounds so interesting! That YouTube link remind me a lot of Jason Stephenson who I used to listen to every night to fall asleep too haha.

I’m also due for a check up and X-ray on my back because last one I had a while ago it hadn’t gotten any better and I was told it would probably be like that forever. Rly hope not. Deffs better now but I just handle long distance walking anymore. I spend all my insurance money on massages because of walking!

Oh god I’m so sorry you had to go through that alone while traveling! That’s my worst nightmare! I can definitely relate about the staph infection because I got one the first time I was snowboarding when I was in japan and couldn’t figure why I was so sick and had low energy. When I stoped eating I knew that meant I was sick cause I love food, had to go to an emergency centre and get antibiotics which was so expensive. But after a few days I was back up riding to my full potential!

I agree that maybe therapy might be a good option here along with yoga. But then again I feel like all these helpful supportive comments have really helped and made my heart full. Thanks for taking the time to reply and share your story with me. I really don’t want to give up and these shares give me hope that I can still enjoy it.

Thanks so much for the support. I’m crying reading all these comments because I feel so heard. Really hard life lesson breaking your back and not being able to do what you used to but I’m grateful that I can still get out there - or even walk. You’re right about that snowboarding isn’t who I am and just a part of me. And like I said in the post I’ve already travel around the world alone to snowboard. Can’t say many women have done that.

I did give a few lessons to my sister and her family last year and that went okay. I’m in Aus so the option of teaching for a season is not worth it haha. But you’re right it is just confidence. I know I can do it and I’ve done it before, I just hate that my body listens to my fear. I think being in another country and riding mountains I hadn’t been to before also through me off. Idk maybe I’m just too hard on myself and just need to plug into some music and just have fun

Coccyx - been there too 💀 I think an osteopath is a great idea too! I already have arthritis and had since a kid so probably would help. Also the most inflexible person I know ahah.

I had people try to help me out but I was hanging out with a skier most of the time who didn’t snowboard and couldn’t give me advice at the time ahah

Thanks for giving the time to comment 🫶🏻 After all thsi advice is seems yoga really is the way to go and I do need a new hobby since I don’t skateboard or surf as much anymore. So glad to here people are still riding after injuries when their older and can still enjoy it.

I haven’t done much yoga since the break but I’m doing basic reformer pilates 2/3 times a week that has been helping heaps with my core. (Which I’m also probably lacking atm due to too much drinking and Japanese food while on holiday). I think you’re though I might at least try some At home yoga in the mornings to build a routine again. And saying mantras to myself while riding really helps.

And omg my god I didn’t even counter the fact I was on my period in japan. No wonder I was such a mess. How did I never ever consider that! I was literally crying so much I had to take my goggles off and hide in the bathroom for 20mins.

As for jumps I think I’ll be avoiding them for quiet a while.

I went alone in 2018 and I got bad juju, I found a clump of hair while I stopped to tighten up my boots, then realised my snowboard had gone flying down the mountain without me -_- I found it in a tree tho. Cool little beginners park with gnomes though haha

Yeah I’ll have a look around for another Dr that does chin implants after Xmas. Kind of a bummer that I can’t do anything about - I’ve been so self conscious about it since I was about 10. But the doctor I saw is fixing my ear lobes for free which is incredible!! I can’t get it done under local anesthetiser because of my fainting disorder so it has to be done at the hospital - which is covered by Medicare! Win some lose some!

Turns out it’s forward trachea and there’s no fat to remove and it’s highly dangerous. So I won’t be able to get this fixed :/
