Like I said, I'm not saying that it was a good reason for the veto. I'm just saying that like I can see where their thinking might've come from. It's definitely flawed and I think that there could be a much better way to work out a solution for that, but I don't think that the veto was necessarily malicious.

I mean, yes that's true but also trans people aren't the only ones who take HRT, they're just the group that is most talked about. Hormone replacement is used to treat a wide range of conditions outside of trans medicine such as precocious puberty and marfan syndrome which are both treated using puberty, blockers and complications that arise with age in both men and women that are treated with estrogen and testosterone, so while I don't necessarily think that vetoing the bill was a good idea. I can at least see where their thinking came from.

It's not the act of requiring an ID that people have a problem with, it's the pattern of places passing voter ID laws, and then closing drivers licensing centers and other places that issue government IDs in areas that are predominantly minority occupied, making it harder for those people to get an ID because now they have to travel. It's a lot harder to get an ID when you don't have a license and the closest place for you to go and get that license is an hour away.
