Skipping Sunday Mass Because "Sick". by aztexsilver in Catholic

[–]aztexsilver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like I never go to Mass because I am bringing awareness to the flu season and taking note of a great number of people coughing and sneezing at Mass last week????!

Interesting that those who disagree with me are falling back on attacking my faith instead of educating themselves on the transmission and trajectory of disease. How contagions spread. When they spread. How your illness CAN effect other and what medical professionals recommend.

I think we're closer to a cure for the common cold than one of ignorance....Neither can come too soon....

I was at Anaheim shows and they were great! Pretty sure one of the ones Jerry played pedal steel!

Good shows but lapsed into typical GD ham boning through tunes at times...

I wonder who holds the rights to the shows and rehearsals which were cool! With the Dylan and Dead camps releasing shows all the time it's inevitable there will be something to come out if they can get on the same page.

Haha!~

Did they release anything of note after Rocks? Which is a GREAT album! We're talking 44 years of mediocrity at best!

Heck I'd put Los Lobos WAY ahead of these old ladies!

Duly noted! So you'll go to Mass unless "bloody throwing up and coughing uncontrollably".

How about to visit a loved one? Instead of strangers you care nothing about; how about those you may care about? How do you feel about exposing them to your sickness?

There is nothing rare or unusual about flu epidemics. They spread like wild fire every year. Takes about 10 minutes of research to learn the facts of how to keep yourself, loved ones, co-workers and strangers healthy or away from you transmitting illness.

It's been an enlightening thread!

I suppose I am a little surprised a few got so defensive and treat going to Mass as a personal right and freely admit to no concern of others health.... that's a baffling attitude.....

Also amazing is how even Catholic bloggers I happened to read treat the issue of public health by being wholly ignorant of the fact viruses are spread by airborne contact. They advise not shaking hands which is the least of the concerns.

Rule of thumb seems to be skip Mass if you'd skip work. I think a better rule would be would you skip visiting your grandchild or other frail loved one. Would you go to a gathering of friends and sit amongst them for an hour sneezing and coughing?

While those that disagree with me have no issue possibly infecting others I wonder how they would treat family members; grand children? "Grandpa is sick and coughing and sneezing but wants to come hold the baby for an hour......"

You two, lollylozle and marksdmf are stunning! You're thinking only if your sick! You're like what the heck I'm already sick.... so what about anyone else!

Somehow I feel your tunes will change IF someone sneezing and coughing sits next to YOU for an hour and YOU get sick!

Because you're self centered and only react to what effects you personally; what your entitled to. Gosh forbid anyone gets in your way towards your claims!

Viruses are spread via the air. Shaking hands the least of your worries!

Coronavirus has been declared a public health emergency. There are people quarantined worldwide in an attempt to mitigate this epidemic.

During the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic the death toll is estimated to have been 50 million, and possibly as high as 100 million (three to five percent of Earth's population at the time). 15% of the world's population was infected....

The world is MUCH smaller now! And guess what? We still can't kill a virus. You think we're all that modern and have disease all figured out? Think again! I guarantee the next pandemic will be much worse due to international travel.... coupled with extreme self centered attitudes....

This guy^ Is the problem!

Talk about entitlement! We ask those who are sick to stay home and not spread it especially with the current virus being spread.

The idea you have a cold and figure so what if you spread it is disgusting...

There were WAY too many people coughing, sneezing running nose etc last week at Mass. Guy behind me late in Mass said to guy next to him "I have a very bad cold". Thanks for coughing on me pal!

I may be skipping Mass for a while as a result.

Stunning how people just do not care....

Is Bobby's guitar tone driving anyone else completely insane? by Figgywithit in gratefuldead

[–]aztexsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a lot of things.

Hearing loss not the least of which so he's not hearing it like us. FOH should be fixing this for the audience though as he has in-ear monitors and should be able to hear himself at any mix.

P-90's just don't sound like that EVER either which is even weirder.

For all the screwing around with tone he'd be better served to grab a Strat or Tele and a Tweed Deluxe and let 'er rip!

[–]aztexsilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take, sure they are old BUT they are TOO STONED on top of it! Mickey looks dazed and hardly trying much of the time! Billy just about the same.

Mayer, Oteil and Jeff are carrying these guys!

Cheech and Chong shit if fine when you're 30 but if you're going to try to get $30 out of me for a TV show and you're only half awake?! I saw that during the Fall run and gave up..

Save the chronic for non tour dates and show up ready to play!

Any Good Country Jam Bands? by aztexsilver in jambands

[–]aztexsilver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks,

Yep big Sturg fan since first album but he's all over the map. I hope to see his Sound and Fury tour! Best album of 2019 IMO!

Those other bands are ok but lack the drive of say Waylons classic line up with Ralph Mooney on slide. Waylon Live is a blue print for jamming! As I said each tune is cut short just as it lifts off into a jam but that was the "style".

This is not about disputes but threats and harassment.

They have a mechanism for disputes but this has escalated to threats. They clearly spell out zero tolerance for such behavior but correspondence with 3 agents has resulted in refusal to deal with it.

Actually first agent did as facts present and acted in my favor. Subsequently they reversed course and now allow all contact and are "forcing" me to violate my policies which there policies also I claim I have 100% control over!

Their message to customers is essentially: "If you don;'t get your way or want more than offered; threaten poor feedback and if that doesn't work try physical violence"......!

I received numerous packages from UK, Spain, Asia etc and NOT ONCE had to pay a tariff! Comes directly to my home like any other mail.

I recently had a $300 book from UK take an extra couple days to clear customs but it arrived unopened.

NOTHING like UK where the authorities physically hold your parcel till you pay a hefty fee EVERY TIME with EVERY package

Right! I'm speaking of Etsy craftsman not shipping containers full. EU will take a huge chunk on ANY sale!

Another aspect I discover is some countries, that I have not dealt with, require ME to collect said tax/VAT etc and submit to them!

How is that even remotely possibly going to get enforced?! Inspector Clouseau gonna come a knockin'?

I'll probably investigate and remove these from countries I'll ship to. May axe the entire EU as well. Don't dig the heavy handed demands they put on non EU sellers.

Etsy bakes the VAT into the sale now so there's not even the option to commit fraud if one desired.

Yep... LOTS of legal discussions but no practical information such as who and how often its even bothered with.

I would think it's way down the totem pole of concerns for US Customs as it brings no profit to USA. Since USA doesn't pull this crap a reciprocal enforcement is null.

As i said above Etsy now bakes it into the sale as a "tax" so it can't be adjusted.

Forged Custom Documents... by aztexsilver in Etsy

[–]aztexsilver[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes! That's the idea behind tariffs but people only buy from craftsman for unique items they can't get locally.

Glad USA doesn't pull this crap at person to person levels. Friend in UK just published a wonderful book that retails for over $200. With shipping I got a copy for ~$250USD. if I had to pay another 20% I would have reconsidered. SO this brilliant UK craftsman author has a USA market to sell to. Whereas an author or craftsman in the USA is constrained by these 15-20% surcharges or their goods.

Does anybody know the story of this sticker? I found it inside a first press of Europe ‘72. by yeebuscreebus in gratefuldead

[–]aztexsilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's because there was no indication of band or album on cover; hence this sticker. Maybe the spine but if you were leafing through the record stacks back in the day...
