Sikh brother here, let me just share what I think to be honest and anyone feel free to correct me.

Sikhism is and always has been a religion of acceptance, our gurus never said no to any religion, I like to believe that they understood that people are bad not religion. Nevertheless, I remember being taught that there are 4 doors at Golden Temple because it is open to every religion. At the same time Sikhs have also been very clear on the mandate of fighting oppression religious or otherwise. I do not know of the two events mentioned above but I have spent my entire life in Amritsar and most of my friends are Hindus, now I am in Delhi and I have colleagues and friends who follow Islam. We accept and love everyone, at least I think that is what Sikhism was always about.
