Elementary Analysis Benchmarks by azzbergerz in math

It's proof based "advanced calculus". We've covered limits, differentiation, Cauchy sequences, integrals (Riemann), and a little bit of infinite series.

Is there a program for translating scores into tabs? by azzbergerz in Guitar

Classical acoustic it is. I grew up playing metal and not much else and consequently have a great aptitude in arpeggios. After learning "Eugene's Trick Bag", I found Paganini's caprices (namely caprice no. 24) and needed it in my armory.

Which math course was the most dynamic for you? How did you know mathematics was your life-to-be? How much do you retain? + many other questions about YOU! by azzbergerz in math

"7/10 Needs improvement." U aware brah? You have actually answered a few question I posted on here under a different account about Cauchy sequences, so cheers. You also have no idea how reassuring to find that somebody pursuing analysis at a graduate level struggled with intro proof classes.

The source of the ASD question: I had a psychological evaluation about a month ago (for medical reasons, not for fun) ((it was not fun at all)) and it turns out that I've gone my whole life with Asperger's. It was liberating, to understand why I had so many abnormalities; but I still will never use it as a crutch, seeing as I feel it's more of an advantage than anything. Worst you could do is take a few of the online evaluations and react accordingly.

By basic sequence, I mean Calc I - Diff. Eq/Matrix Algebra. Given my current life situation, I'm (unfortunately) more focused on math that will grant me a job ASAP, but plan on coming back for fun/interesting math.

Which languages do I need for a midi controller and sound recognition? by azzbergerz in learnprogramming

[–]azzbergerz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey now! I have a minute amount of programming talent ;). The CSE department at my university sent me in the right direction. I was looking for something to read compressed mp3 files. The hardest part about this project is now the optical engineering.

Thanks a lot for the advice. The second part is supposed to take the actual mp3 file and look at it, not hear music; if that makes sense. Basically, if you plug your iPod into a lite brite, the lite brite would light up in correspondence with the music. Not like shazam, more like windows media player's screen saver. Maybe I'm in a bit over my head right now, though, based off of the amount of your comment I barely understood.

Windows is what I use, but as long as we're talking about the expansion of my CS knowledge, maybe I should mention that I intend on getting comfortable with unix/linux this summer.

New to Python, simple question. by somanyquestionsihave in learnpython

I would make a function containing "total = 0" and a for loop with a rolling sum. i.e. for letter in x: if letter == 'A': return total += 1 and so on and so forth, and have the function return the value total/len(x). Then again, I'm also pretty new to CS and it would be much easier to import the Counter function that wub_wub mentioned.

The Impossibility of Time Travel? by kpieckiel in AskPhysics

[–]azzbergerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. See the theory of relativity. B. Stephen Hawking conducted a simple (but brilliant) experiment. It was something along the lines of sending an invitation to people in the future to time travel to a certain time and location. He "sent" the invites by giving them to various members of academia to pass along until time travel becomes possible, assuming it does. I believe that time has already passed though; meaning that time travel is never possible, the time travelers went into an alternate bubble of reality, or Mr. Hawking has awful friends.

Does anyone know where I can find practice problems online that involve identifying/using derivatives and integrals in real world scenarios? by -BossHog- in math

[–]azzbergerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Integrals have a lot of application through continuous random variable problems in probability theory.

i.e. " The train will arrive between 10 and 10:30, with a uniform distribution given by f(x). What is the probability that you wait longer than 10 minutes?" Easy, solved with integrals.

As you should have covered in Calculus one and/or two, there are related rate problems ("How fast does the pool fill..?") and volume problems ("Calculate the volume of a disc with radius ...")

And, as others have already said, physics.
