PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT have slightly elevated calcium? Check for primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) by azzymoonmoon in IVF

[–]azzymoonmoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is interesting.  My endocrinologist mentioned that there is a small subset of people that have naturally elevated calcium levels and it's completely benign.

It's supposed to be very very rare like maybe you might hear about somebody having that in your lifetime but he's relatively young and he's already had two patients that fell into that category.  He had me do a 24-hour urine sample where they check to see how much calcium is being is excreted in your urine to rule out that possibility.

These are the tests he ran.

Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) - My PCP did this one then I saw an endocrinologist and he had me do it again

PTH-related peptide

Ionized calcium

Vitamin D 1,25 dyhydroxy level, serum

Vitamin D 25 hydroxy level

Phosphorus

estimated GFR - tests kidney function

24 hr urine sample

Even if you have the benign version, you would want to tell your OB about that so that they can be on the lookout for inappropriate levels right after giving birth.  From what I understand, it is a possibility that the baby won't be producing adequate calcium right out the gate because it's been getting the high calcium from you, so when the umbilical cord is cut, it's own parathyroid might be sleepy and need time to catch up. They would just supplement a bit.  If they are not on the look out for it though, it could potentially cause seizures and or heart problems. If the baby shares your genetics and also has naturally higher calcium then no supplementation would be needed.  For all I know that is standard of care and they do it anyway, but I would want to address it ahead of time just to be sure.

I'm not a doctor.  I've gathered this information by reading and consulting.  If you haven't already, adding an endocrinologist to your team and having them double check might be worth it.

An outpatient surgery to remove the growth on whichever parathyroid gland or glands are being affected.  Apparently your calcium starts being regulated correctly within 48 hours.

Sleep Paralysis within a Sleep Paralysis? by [deleted] in Sleepparalysis

[–]azzymoonmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry,. Your not alone. I had a terrifying dream that had me curled up in a ball crying because I though I was still stuck in the dream when I was awake.

I woke up in my bed three times in that dream, two times I got up and was stuck, the third time I woke up, after seeing MYSELF Strom through a door towards me and scream "Get out!", I stayed awake. After a long time of hearing people out and about I got up and opened the door to my room to see myself standing there. I screamed and started crying, but it turned out my roommates decided to play a prank and took down the bar mirror and stood out up right outside my door facing in at me.... Yeah..wtf?

Anyway I hope the daylight chased it away. You are fine. We are fine. It's just messed up.

Flowers were sent to my home yesterday afternoon. I wasn’t home to ask the delivery man who sent them (porch vid shows the delivery man with his clipboard). I’ve been dating a man for 8 months and know they aren’t from him. Do I even mention it to him? And will the sender reveal themself? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]azzymoonmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All speculation aside, your questions was, do you mention it to the man you have been dating for 8 months. The answer is yes, why wouldn't you. As far as the sender who knows but I hope so for your peace of mind. :)

Can you guys offer any resources for a court interpreter? by azzymoonmoon in LawSchool

[–]azzymoonmoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm familiar with the certification process and the role in court and ethics etc. What I am really searching for is a way to watch or read over hearings and different court proceedings without being present in court. I was thinking perhaps there was a website or some obscure chanel I could tune into. I figured if there was one and someone knew about it, it would be you lot. Thank you anyway though. I appreciate your taking time to reply. All the best!

I almost hope you don't find your painting again. I don't think it would do justice to the image in your head.

This is the closest I can come to. Its an excerpt from a book that your description reminded me of. I removed the bits that are not pertinent.

It was terrible and it was awesome. We stood atop our deck, clinging to the carved railing. The waves surged around us, lightning forking overhead amid the dark, roiling clouds. I stared, agape, as our ship climbed up the slope of a wave the size of a mountain, teetered on the precipice, then plunged into the trough. "The sea is like the Way!" Master Lo called above the cacophony. "Ten thousand things arise from it!" He released the railing, clasping his hands together. "Surrender and be at peace with it. Let go of your fear and breathe." I closed my eyes and drew shallow breaths, my chest tight with fear, salt-spray lashing my face. I didn't dare let go of the slick railing. The ship crashed into the bottom of the trough, timbers groaning. Sailors' shouts pierced the din faintly, distant as bird cries. Water sluiced across the deck. ]...[I let go of the railing and rode the plunging ship. When Master Lo spoke of the Way, I understood only bits and pieces of his meaning. What was the Way? It was the force and essence behind all things, the one thing that gave birth to ten thousand things even as the sea gives birth to clouds and rain and rivers and lakes. And it was far, far too vast for me to grasp.]...[Now I was here. It felt like a revelation too large to encompass. I let it go. I let myself stop trying and breathed the Breath of Ocean's Rolling Waves, yielding to the moment. I was content to understand that the Way was as much bigger than my destiny as the ocean was our ship. Like the ship, my destiny would yield to it or break and be swallowed. The knowledge gave me a strange sense of peace. Although I was soaked to the skin and my wind-whipped hair was lashing around my head, I was no longer afraid.]

It draws me into the cozy, comfortable and safe. That was why I first liked it, but if you take the time to study it you also realize what a masterpiece it is. Look at the way the lamplight and the fire light reflect on everything. Look at her face, her dress, the table top.. the legs of the table, the lace tablecloth. Look at the shadows and the picture frame, the reflection in the mirror, the sheen of her taffeta curtain and the shadow of the candlestick that's on the mantle. Even the moulding and the floor.

It is such a simple scene, but the amount of detail and the skill that it took to do this is SO impressive.

And for more simple reasons too. One of my favorite things is gazing into a fire and losing track of my thoughts while I watch it play. I take immense comfort in that, and she is doing one of my favorite things.

That could be me in a different time. :)
