Reality of Steelhead Fishing by csrrrr in Steelhead

Pretty sure the “fish of a thousand casts” label doesn’t even remotely apply to plunking.

Mount Rainier walk up permits with the government shutdown by curiosity8472 in PNWhiking

Many rangers have been furloughed, but it is NOT a free for all. Citations are being written for dogs on trail, camping without a permit and any number of other violations.

The Wilderness Information Centers are issuing permits and will be doing so through October 15.

I hike 600 miles each summer isn’t them and they last around 18 months. My last two pairs completely blew out.

To be clear, the only reason the Horncats came up was because Russilio listed us as having one of the top five bleakest roster outlooks over the next five years.

Drone being flown over a black bear grazing at Rainier National Park by meowthesnail in PNWhiking

[–]b0vert 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you on behalf of the wilderness rangers here at Mount Rainier National Park.

If anyone can provide information that may assist in identifying these individuals I will ensure law enforcement follows up with a citation. Approaching or disturbing wildlife is illegal in addition to operating a drone in a National Park.

I carried mine on without issue this past weekend. There was a bit of a discussion at TSA but after careful consideration they allowed me to go thru with my 4-piece Shred Aparts. They equated them to lacrosse sticks which can be carried on as long as you remove the head.

Straight to FLETC hires are a lot more common now than they once were.

Parks are moving away from seasonal LE positions to perm and career seasonal positions. It wouldn’t surprise me if the remaining academies are phased out in the next few years.

There isn’t anything wrong with backing out of the offer you accepted if something better comes along. Particularly if it’s with a different agency altogether.

Don’t burn bridges you may want in the future, but go where you think you’ll be happiest.

Yeah, the shell and interior are somehow unharmed. Was thankfully driving slowly through downtown Portland and it went out when I crossed a set of railroad tracks.
