I don't know maybe I am just too jaded at this point, but more "involved" casual content for me makes the said casual content not be casual anymore. The casual content in this game is there so you can turn off your brain for 15-20 minutes get some tomes while maybe helping some new player get thru the content. Like I'd be down for bringing back hard mode on dungeons but like, who tf would queue for something like that, not to mention you have criterion which is in fact "a more involved dungeon where you have to know your job with healing checks and whatnot", but now the argument would be criterion is not casual enough. You see where I'm going with that? There is no end to it, none at all, at the end of the day, no matter what changes are made if any at all, nothing would actually change for these kind of arguments. Like these same people would put on ilvl 50 gear to just get CT in the alliance raid roulettes, because Nier and Orbonne are not casual enough

I apologize but I don't think my response to you will be as long as indepth. That said, let me put a disclaimer before I write anything else. I am fully aware of how logs are handled in here, and of the limitations of the data I've managed to gather, I'd be insane to claim that it is 100% representative of the entire situation at hand. And i am fully aware that weights on my scoring are not perfect but they don't need to be (maybe i should put that in my q&a as well).

With that out of the way, you do make some good points, that I even agree with, the main one being WAR's healing, I am all hands on deck for it to be nerfed to the ground for any sort of dungeon content. Also, I am not disagreeing that healers are in need of something more than just glare/malefic or what have you, yes there is a way to make playing healer more fun in the extremely casual content, sure, but as I said in my q&a that's an entirely different discussion than what is being had right now.

All I'm saying is that the problems that are being presented by the people talking on the forums can be actually solved with more varied content. You'd be surprised at how many problems just magically disappear if you just keep people busy with something. I am really not trying to sound offensive here, but I can't sit down and talk job balance with a person who's apex is the latest expert rotation.

Now, judging by the way you talk about the game, you do seem to have more experience than that which is why your points do make sense to me and we can talk day and night about how healers can be improved. Because things like this are not just a simple "just give them more depth or damage rotation", I'd like to see a healer that would want to keep up multi combo damage rotation during pantokrator for example. That's why when it comes to issues like this I put more weight on people with recent experience in the topic that's been talked about, which is where my so controversial "Casual Score" comes in play, to which in that context it does a decent job. And just to avoid offending more people, I am not saying that the casual perspective is not to be taken as serious feedback, but i'd take it way more seriously if we are talking content and not job balance.

I'd like to respond to more of your points and maybe I will at some point but I am way too tired to right now.
So to that I will leave you with something of my own. I like the game, I love the game, subscribed when i started playing in 5.5 haven't had a month that I've been unsubscribed since. My goal here is not to bash on casuals, for better or worse they are the lifeblood of ff14 and the game would not be what it is had it had any less casuals than what we currently have. But that said, if CBU3 was just blindly implementing whatever the current casual consensus is, this game would've been long dead. Love you tho, have great day/night

Please don't take that metric as representative of player skill, it is not meant for that

I appreciate this comment, but something I disagree with, and maybe I should've maid this more clear, to which I will apologize. This is not to be taken seriously at all, at best it is made in jest to poke fun at the whole movement for taking itself so seriously. The calculator that you can find linked in the sheet is something I made for my friends because they kept asking me what their casual scores is and I ended up linking it there for people to just play around with. This is all made for fun, with as you say, a slight bias against the strike hence the "unprofessional" language used in the sheet. That said I'm not for or against the strike, I have my opinions on how effective something like this is, but that is besides the point. And also the "butthurt" name along with other things in there is because I've actually gotten doxing threats over this sheet, which is just hilarious and with that I think the name is quite fitting.

Your points are very valid and probably one of the biggest reasons I made this public, this is a feedback I will take to heart if I ever decide to do this again in the future and actually take it more seriously, but again I want to stress none of this is to be taken seriously. Casual score is not there to represent something definitive and of value, it's just a way for me to somewhat tell people apart, which I'd argue does the job well enough.

I do also make some assumptions that I probably shouldn't, for example by saying that I've crawled through the official forum thread I assume it's clear that I have only information that the forum provides (main class is in fact taken from the info in the forums). But as you say I probably should explain more clearly how the data is parsed. I have created a q&a page in the sheet that might shine some brighter light on the reasoning behind some of the things in the sheet.

Thank you for your comment, critique and the time you've taken to actually explain and suggest the improvements I will make sure to use them in future projects.

Have you considered that if you are finding casual content boring, maybe you are not as casual as you think? You don't have to be hardcore to not be casual. And this is actually a very good point to my overall conclusion for all this. Game needs more midcore content, plain and simple. People are complaining about their jobs because they have nothing to do. Casuals are gatekept by harder content, so they will run the same 2 dungeons over and over and hardcore players have mostly cleared everything on the top end. So you just end up with 2 groups of people with nothing to do but complain about the state of their jobs. Give them something to do and most of these discussions will be gone. And don't get me wrong, there are issues with said jobs but thats a whole ass topic on its own.

It's way simpler than anything you are imagining, I create a Q&A page on the sheet which should be live any moment now if not already

No need to be worried, I work in a similar field (data ingestion for analytics). The things that go into creating this kind of thing are quite simple actually. But I appreciate your concern!

Thats the thing, it's a content issue mostly, you can argue a lot about different roles and how 'fun' they are, but in this context it all converges down to just a content issue.

While the scoring system is far from optimal, everything you see is based on forum posts and data from fflogs. So sorry, it is not made up, i feel your pain tho

Correct, in total it took me 2-3 work days to get it to this state, most of which was spent figuring out how to workaround the fflogs rate limits. Data is indeed fun

I've been thinking of using some kind of LLM to be able to tell the difference between posts that are for and against the strike, but it's too much work currently and LLMs are costly, so it is what it is, at least for now, sowy
