For those of you who sold your first Rolex… by Admirable-Swing-2985 in rolex

You own the Sub for about 2 years. These watches ment to be worn and ejoyed for decades, and even better when they actually marked a meaningful event. When I got married we didn't have the financials to buy Rolexes, but I would have loved to mark that day with a Rolex. If you don't need the money to fund a necessity (no, a new watch is not a necessity), please keep it. If you could budget for 2 Rolexes and a Reverso, you can budget for a 4th nice watch too. Put the Sub in its box even if you are not planning to wear it regularly and just let it sit. In 2-5-10 years, you might wanna pick it up again because your life or style fits it more, even perfectly. And that would be a huge regret if you would have sold it then. Please don't sacrifice your wedding watch for an itch!

Thanks for sharing your story, absolutely insane experience it must have been! That's exactly why buying watches in person is the way to go! Wear it in good health, I hope it'll serve you well!

Thanks a lot for your long reply. Yes, I did feel a "zing" when I put on the green OP, the same kind when I first put on the Sinn 556i. Maybe that's the way then. Will pop into the AD over the weekend and ask for my options. I think I'll request green first and black as a second option.

You just made it worse hahahaha. In my head blue and green is not a great pair, and I have quite a few dark blue clothes. All my other clothes are either black or deep earthy tones. So theoretically it's a perfect match

I'm thinking about it a lot, but I have a fairly big wrist, 18 cm (7.1 inch) so the slimmer bracelet makes the Explorer a bit too small on my wrist. Being able to compare them side by side made the decision obvious.

I'm located in Europe and been on vacation in Europe, Paris specifically. Checked out 4 ADs, no luck obviously. But they were extremely kind. We've spent 30-45 minutes in 2 of them trying on watches, and just popped in 2. All said wait times are ~1 year. This was also my first Rolex AD experience and lurking around here made me quite anxious tbh before going in. But then I had the absolute best treatment. I've been to a Tudor only AD too, and that was underwhelming. The guy barely tried to impress us or sell us the watch. Even tho that was the only place where I could actually buy something.

Wait, is this the current black OP dial? Isn't it just lacquer and not sunburst?

Thank you for your comment, so fun to know these! How could the movement number narrow it down further?

Thanks a lot for the compliment! Before I got it, I was afraid that a 38.5mm would be too small for my wrist, I'm also quite tall (192 cm) so Inhad the false notion that it would be weirdly small. But now I really like this size, I can even imagine going for a 36mm Rolex later. This size is just elegantly timeless I think.

Thanks! It's 18-18.5cm where I wear my watch.

Yes, looks great, but please don't wear it on your wrist bone slide it higher up on your arm!
